Beginners Yoga Courses

at Yoga.BodyTorque

Our Beginners Courses are suitable for those completely new to yoga, and for those with some previous experience of yoga, but who perhaps have not practiced within the Iyengar method.

You will encounter, through a focus on the Standing poses, a potent, direct experience of alignment. You can expect the classes to be both physically challenging and replenishing. As we link action and observation in asana (postures), you will begin to access calmness, clarity; presence. The mind, the breath and the body are related. Simple inversions, twists, forward bends, supported restorative extensions and relaxation compliment the stronger standing work.

Know that yoga is a total system for health. Not only will your posture, your muscles, joints and bones be touched, but yoga positively affects and balances the organ systems within the body; your physiology.

You can expect greater balance across your emotions, mind, spirit. Peace and a state of enlivened vitality are common side effects!

Attendance is by Registration for 6- 8 week Courses. Contact Narelle for current/upcoming Courses.

Please note that you can begin attendance after the "official start date", places permitting, and simply pay pro-rata for the remaining classes. And yes, we do have a system for "make-up" classes, should you miss one!

Beginners wanting to work care-fully with their back may consider joining the Yoga for Scoliosis or Backcare courses;

In these Courses you will learn how to work with clarity in your legs and spine to create;

  • grounding, strength and alignment in your lower limbs; a connection of the legs through the pelvis and into the spine to support your back,
  • balanced length, mobility, stability and strength in your back,
  • an open expansive chest and fluid shoulder girdle.
  • the emphasis in scoliosis is on building length, facilitating de-rotation, creating body awareness and embodying the breath.

Move toward greater poise, grace and freedom in your posture as you return to the natural inherent dignity of your back. Breathe - rich, full, delicious; aware. Recover the joy of movement!

Please note you will need a private assessment session prior to enrolling in either a Scoliosis or a Backcare yoga course. If in doubt. ask Narelle.
