BodyTorque

 Transforming the Spine!

Spacious, light filled, Cathedral-like high ceilings, body-friendly timber floors. The Gap studio space is in a peaceful bush setting - a tree house.

Yoga.BodyTorque, directed by Narelle Carter-Quinlan has a  focus on yoga for Spinal Health and moving from the fluid and organic body; an Experiential Anatomy.

Why "Body Torque"? We all inhabit a spiral terrain; from our DNA, spiraling galaxies, the movement of our internal waterways - our fluids. Narelle's work employs the natural and inherent spiralic movement of energy within our bodies; our bones, our connective tissues, our fluids and organs. "Torque" is a spiral, a rotation through space. An embodied ecology!

Narelle's work focuses on Yoga for Scoliosis; itself a spiral.

The studio space is fully yoga-equipped, with a full palette of props, including

  • wall ropes
  • wooden treslters
  • Backbenders. large & small, barrel
  • wooden boxes and benches
  • Mats, Blocks, straps/belts
  • bolsters, blankets, chairs
  • sandbags, weights
  • wedges, balls, eyebags and more!

Exploring yoga with props enables you to work appropriately and safely. Props are employed extensively in private sessions and in Scoliosis and in Backcare Courses, facilitating a delicious sense of length and unravelling within the spine. Props profoundly develop a clear, clean sense of  the direction and intent of a pose and intelligent, incisive penetration of the body.
