Some very nice person adopted Julie and now she's in her own happy home.  She was with us longer than any other foster and we miss her a whole bunch.

It was a sad day yesterday saying goodbye to our Lillie.  She's been here a while and I'll bet it will be a long time before we have 4 at the same time again (if I can help it!).  She's off to a nice family who has another Bernard for her.  Apparently one for her proclivity for sleeping.  All was well with Julie.  She seems to be doing really well with Pearl and Jack and the three of them have had a good day.

Although both dogs continue to socialize well here at the Preserve, they still share a special bond and spend a lot of time with each other.

A sad story

Julie and Lilly came to us on a fall day.  They had both spent somewhere between 2 months to 2 years living behind a house where the owners had moved out, but apparently came by here and there to drop off food and water.  They were both severely dehydrated.  Lillie's fur was so matted that it was like 5 inches of felt.  We had to eventually shave her completely down.  We found all kind of living and dead wildlife in her fur.  Julie's dew claws had grown into her pads and caused a horrible infection.  After a trip to the vet, a lot of grooming, shampooing (a skunk had obviously attacked them both), and a lot of TLC,  I'm happy to report that they are both doing very well.
