THE 2010 NAPERVILLE INVITATIONAL
GIRLS’ SOCCER TOURNAMENT
The tournament participants are guaranteed 4 games played over two weekends, with the 2 fianlists playing a total of 5 games.
Since 1988, the State of Illinois has crowned 22 State champions-- 19 of those championships were won by teams competing in this tournament.
This year's tournament field is made up of 16 out of the 32 possible regional champions, 7 out of the 8 possible sectional champions, and all 4 of the quarter-finalists from 2009.

All games played on April 22,23,24 which are tied at the end of regulation will go to overtime (at most, two 10 minute sudden victory periods with no rest between the periods). If the game remains tied, we will use the IHSA shoot-out procedure. These games will all end with a winner and a loser.
All of the games on April 29,30, and May 1, other than the championship bracket, will be official if the game is tied at the end of regulation (no shootout will take place).
If any of the championship bracket games are tied at the end of regulation, we will go to overtime (at most, two 10 minute sudden victory periods with no rest between the periods). If the game remains tied, we will use the IHSA shoot-out procedure to determine a winner.
SEEDING CRITERIA DURING GROUP PLAY
1. Most Points (win=4pts, loss=0pts, shoot-out win=3 pts, shoot-out loss=1pt)
2. Head to head competition
*In case of a three way tie*
1. The team with the greatest goal differential within the group will advance to the championship bracket.
2. If #1 fails to break the three way tie, then the team with the most goals scored within the group will advance to the championship bracket.
3. If #1 and #2 fail to break the tie, then a coin toss will be used to eliminate one of the three tied teams.
*Once the three way tie has been broken, the two remaining teams will return to head-to-head competition.*
