Welcome to NanoWorcester
Register for the 2nd Annual NanoWorcester Symposium
Saturday March 17, 2012
@ Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)
The first NanoWorcester Symposium in 2011, held at MCPHS (mcphs.edu), attracted 52 participants from central New England, twenty of whom presented posters. It was a friendly and enjoyable event, focused on nanoscience, nanotechnology, and nanomedicine.
We invite you to participate in the second NanoWorcester Symposium on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at WPI. This year, we shall feature a student "elevator-speech" and poster competition in the afternoon (anticipated prize pool of $1800), after a morning of talks by invited speakers from central New England and farther afield.
The speakers, their affiliations, and their topic areas are:
Christopher Lambert, WPI Bioengineering Institute, Molecular Sensors. Evelyn Kurt-Jones, UMass Medical Center, Immunology and Nanoparticles. Gerard D'Souza, MCPHS Boston, Organelle-Targeted Intracellular Delivery. Julie Chen, UMass Lowell, Nanoscale Composites. Thomas Vogt, USC Chemistry and Biochemistry, Imaging at the Nanoscale. Heinrich Hoerber, UBristol, Molecular Motors and Photonic Force Microscopy.
Pre-registration will close at NOON on February 24th. Researchers at all levels are encouraged to submit abstracts for the afternoon poster session by NOON on February 24th. During pre-registration, students may opt to compete for awards at the Bachelors, Masters or PharmD, or PhD levels. Late registrants may attend the meeting, but may not present their work.
A limited number of scholarships will be available for students who would like to attend, who are not submitting a poster so that no support will come from a research advisor, and for whom the registration fee is a financial hardship. Students meeting these criteria may apply to Prof. Eihab Jaber, ejaber@worcester.edu by February 24th. An email from a faculty advisor is also necessary. Prospective scholarship students must preregister and pay. Scholarship students will be reimbursed following the conference after picking up their name badges the day of the conference. We hope to see you there!
