Little Sugar River Farm I live on the Little Sugar River Farm with my husband, Frank Goodman. Over the years, Frank has created an organic farm out of a hayfield and woodlot, built a house from the woodlot's timber, and now also runs a guest house and commercial kitchen on the farm. Lake Superior I spend summers doing my research in a tiny cabin up on Lake Superior, and my next book will have one case study focused on the forested watersheds of the lake. Many, but not all, of my recent graduate students have done much of their research along the shores of Lake Superior as well. Several regional land trusts and environmental groups are doing their best to protect Lake Superior. Noteworthy examples include the Bayfield Regional Conservancy, the West Wisconsin Land Trust, LoonWatch, Living Forest Cooperative, and the Inland Sea Society. Some friends and I run an informal sea kayaking club, South Shore Kayakers, and we welcome experienced kayakers to join us on our summer paddles. Critters Our two pit bulls and the husky mix, all rescues, star in the slideshows below. To learn more about the wonderful work of pit bull rescues, go to Pit Bull Rescue Central or Bad Rap or your local humane society. |
