Music Recorders

Music and Mentors (M&Ms)

The fourth grade students will become mentors to the third grade students. Every Tuesday at 1:00 - 1:30, students will meet to practice the recorders with their mentees. Throughout the year, the fourth graders will teach the third graders, Hot Cross Buns, Jingle Bells, Yankee Doodle, and Ode to Joy. There will be two performances for the school: 1) Holiday Performance - third and fourth graders will play Jingle Bells and the fourth graders will also play Jolly Old Saint Nicolas, while their mentees sing along, and 2) End of the Year - the third and fourth graders will play Ode to Joy.

Recorder Karate

This year, we are starting something new..Recorder Karate! In addition to being mentors, students will earn belts for every song they learn. When students earn a belt, their name plates are moved to the corresponding belt color. They receive certificates of belt completion for each belt. There are nine belts, plus a special gold holiday belt.
 
 
 
 
 Congrats to the first group of students who earned their white belt!
 
If you want to practice for the belts...have your parent send me an email for the Karate Password (I'm not allowed to give post it on the web site). Once you have the password, click Recorder Karate, then write "karate" as the username, and type in the password.
