Sesame Seed Drink

(Horchata de Ajonjoli)

Yes a drink can be made from sesame seeds! This is one of my favorite drinks since I was a little girl. It used to be sold at the local bakery and there was nothing more refreshing than having a glass of this drink on a hot summer day!

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups sesame seeds

2 cups water at room temperature

4 cups warm water

1 cup sugar

DIRECTIONS:

  • Allow the seeds to soak in room temperature water for 4 hours. Strain.
  • Grind the seeds until they have become a very fine powder. A food processor or even a coffee grinder can be used.
  • Add 4 cups of warm water and mix well ( I use the blender at this point). Strain again. Add sugar to sweeten. Chill before serving.

BUEN PROVECHO!
