AFS reef

A United Effort

AFS in Bay Of Plenty have chosen to support the Opotiki Community Reef building project and have to date made over 3 tonnes of complex habitat enriching modules which have been deployed in close proximity on the seabed out from Opotiki.
Here are two pictures of the groups undertaking the work.
Because this reef is the result of students, previously unknown to each other, coming together and doing something for the marine environment, then our pick is that the energy of such unity will make the reef become one the the most effective reefs in the Bay of Plenty.
The theory here is that it is not just size that counts but the spirit in which the enhancement work is undertaken that really counts.

Many a time the novice fisherman hooks up with a prize fish whist the experienced skipper can only look on in awe.  This seems to happen all too often, beyond the realms of chance and one has to wonder what other forces are at plat here. Could the absence of expectation by novice fishers, who often even rely on the Skipper to be baiting their hook,  be the quality that attracts the prize fish?

We'll keep you posted on this one.
