This booklet is intended to set forth the Wedding Policy of Norway Lutheran Church. In order to have your wedding performed here you must make the commitment to meet these wedding requirements. If you are prepared to do so, you can move ahead with scheduling your wedding. These are your next steps: 1. Fill out and sign the attached Wedding Information Form (PRINTABLE). 2. Call and make an appointment with one of the pastors on our staff. 3. A wedding date is not reserved until the non-refundable wedding deposit has been paid. There are four basic requirements: 1. Remember the wedding liturgy is a service of worship in which the promises of marriage are made before God and the Christian assembly. It is a gathering of family and friends who join with you to worship God and to ask God’s blessing on your new life together. 2. We expect you to prepare for your marriage by completing four (4) one hour Pre-Marriage sessions with the pastor. 3. You must make a commitment to one another to seek appropriate counseling and help in the event that either partner, or both, feels your marriage relationship is in difficulty. 4. You must make a commitment to be active participants in the worship and congregational life at Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church or another Christian congregation. DECORUM 1. The Chancel furnishings are not to be removed or concealed by wedding decorations. 2. No rice, birdseed, or confetti be thrown either inside or outside the church. 3. No alcoholic beverages or drugs are permitted on the church premises. 4. Smoking is only permitted outside the building.

While there is no “fee” for members of NLC, a usual honorarium for a pastor’s time is between $150.00 and $250.00. Checks for all fees are to be brought to the church office at least three days prior to your wedding day, at that time you will be given the names of whom separate checks will need to be made payable to. 1. The Wedding deposit is non-refundable if you decide to cancel your wedding. 2. A sound technician is not required for weddings performed at the Old Church RECEPTIONS If our Fellowship Hall is used for a reception, the date must be cleared with the church office and a “Use of Facility” Form must be filled out and approved by the Board of Property. The following fees apply to members and non-members:
OFFICIATING PASTOR 1. A pastor of Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate at all weddings at the church. 2. When it is the wish of the bride or groom to include another clergy person in the ceremony, they must make this known to the officiating pastor who may then extend the invitation to the guest pastor. 3. The pastor presiding at weddings is determined by the staff’s preaching schedule. The pastor you meet with initially may not be the one who performs your wedding ceremony.
PHOTOGRAPHY 1. Flash pictures are not to be taken during the ceremony. They are permitted only during the processional and the recessional. 2. Pictures may be taken in the sanctuary either before or after the ceremony. If pictures are taken prior to the service, pictures should be completed 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the ceremony. 3. Photographers are to meet with the pastor to determine where pictures can be taken. 4. Video Taping is permitted as long as it is done with available light and is not intrusive. The video camera must be stationary.
FLORISTS, FLOWERS, CANDLES AND AISLE RUNNERS 1. Artificial flowers are not allowed on the altar. 2. No decorations may be fastened to furniture or walls by any means. - New Church 23 Pews Right Facing Sanctuary 21 Left Facing Sanctuary. - Old Church 11 Pews on Right and Left side. 3. Only decorations which can be placed on the floor or tied on with ribbon may be used. 4. Unity candles are not provided by the church. Candles should be drip less. 5. If you use
