My first Max Ride fanfic. Read it here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4200022/1/ About: Max, Fang, and the flock are still running from Itex. Dr. Martinez (Mom) and Ella play somewhat of a part. Occasionally Jeb will show up. But Max and Fang have a relationship to deal with, so that means FAX. Expect filler chapters. Love, Pain, and Wings Facts: ***Warning!!! Here there be spoilers if you haven't read the latest chapter!!! Entire Story Facts: -Sunglasses are mentioned for Iggy multiple times. I actually have to say I own a billion pairs of sunglasses because I keep buying them. I've lost a couple, stepped on three, and chucked almost all of them at my friends. -Umm...if you didn't notice, I totally started leaving out Total in the later chapters. -Like many of my other FanFics, baseball plays a background part. -The title of this FanFic was inspired from Keith Urban's CD "Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy Thing" Facts by Chapters: Chapter 1: -Fenway Park, home to the beloved Boston Red Sox, I chose as one of the first places for the flock to go because of my love for baseball. Chapter 2: -I might like BK better, but McDonald's are more plentiful. Chapter 3: -The men sitting in front of Iggy and Max are talking about a person called "El Capitan" which is a quick reference to that evil and sadistic captain in Pan's Labyrinth which was in Spanish. Chapter 4: -Michele Chandler, the tabloid reporter that Max made a deal to get a plane to Arizona, is based on my friend's name. She spells it Michele, not Michelle and gets very irritated when it is spelled incorrectly. -Max says "Maybe we would see Brad Pitt!" It's a joke I told my friend when I went to Beverly Hills, CA. She responded with, "Yea, right." Chapter 5: -Wilshire Boulevard actually exists in Beverly Hills, CA. I've stood at the intersection of it with some other street and took a picture, escaping death by inches because I almost got hit by a car. And the abandoned building I put into the story was very real. When I went there, there was an empty boarded up spot on Wilshire that had a spy gadgets sign for a shop that was no longer there. Chapter 6: -If you remember this chapter's ending, it's one of my favorite and best ending I've ever had. I don't think any other chapter has had that good of an ending. Chapter 7: -In the beginning of the chapter, Max talks about trying to get the remaining flock, "Back to good". That's a nod to Matchbox Twenty's "Back 2 Good" song. Chapter 8: -Max refers to Fang as "My beloved Fang" in the beginning of the chapter. One of my friends made fun of me calling my boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend) "Beloved". Chapter 9: -The flock stops at Burger King. The fast food restaurant that both me and my best friend agree is the best, ever over McDonald's. But Mickey D's still has the best fries. Chapter 10: -Canada. What's so interesting about Canada? Besides maple syrup, it's actually has a lot of comic book history, including the fictional Weapon X program where Wolverine was experimented on. -More specifically, Alberta, Canada, is where the Weapon X facility was in the X-Men comics. That's my nod to my favorite comic book character, Wolverine. -Max , in this chapter, is stuck in a false world created by the Itex director. One time my friend once fretted over the idea that our whole life was a lie. That's where I got the idea from, my crazy friends. Chapter 11: -See, Weapon X and Wolverine was mentioned by Gazzy. I just couldn't resist. -Max makes a reference to the Van Helsing character played by Hugh Jackman in the 2004 Van Helsing movie. He actually does say, "some things are better left forgotten." I will admit I am a Hugh Jackman fan. Jackman also played Wolverine in the X-Men movies. Chapter 12: -Room 666 is a reminder of evil to me. There is this guy in my school, and I guess he's my friend, but he's emo and always talks about things like the devil. I guess when I was writing this, it was the week that he wouldn't shut up about this book I was reading that ended on page number 666. -Fang just happens to have a paperclip in his pocket. This was actually inspire d by MacGyver, the guy that has a solution for every problem and always just seems to get stuck with the right things to make a bomb or a car battery. -"Maple Leaf Inn" is made up and a bow to maple trees in Canada. But I think you all figured that out. -Just so you know, I did research about hypothermia and drastic change in body temperature is bad. Chapter 13: -"Fang looked deeply into my eyes, and I caught a glimpse of that perfect world where he and I were together." That quote was inspired by lyrics in the Jonas Brothers' "When You Look Me in the Eyes." The actual line of the song that I got it from is ,"I catch a glimpse of heaven." Chapter 14: -Max sees an X-Men movie on TV, thanks to my obsession. It's actually the third and final film(X-Men: The Last Stand AKA X3) that was horridly directed by Brett Ratner. She makes a comment about how it might not be so bad having claws and a healing power like Wolverine. Chapter 15: -Guess what, Max keeps saying, "thank God" every once in a while. Although I'm an atheist, what else could replace that expression? -Max has that I don't care attitude about fashion, which is really my opinion too. In, out, or so yesterday, I honestly don't give a damn. Chapter 16: -The flock is decorating the Christmas tree in this chapter. The things decorated are mentioned like ornaments of movies and sports players, like on my own family Christmas tree. -Notice how it just all of a sudden says "PAGE BREAK!"? Well, when I'm typing on word, I write that in so when I edit and read it one last time after putting the document on Fanfiction, I add the page breaks or those long lines. I guess I just forgot to add one there. -When I was dating, my boyfriend (now my ex) used to slip his leg under mine during lunch and if we got lucky, we'd end up holding hands too. Chapter 17: -The picture that Mom/Dr. Martinez is trying to take with everyone in it is also a family tradition with me. It was amusing to myself to put that in. -The reason the flock and them are taking turns opening presents is because that's family tradition for me too during Christmas. Chapter 18: -"Silence for death, in my mind, should be a lot longer," says Max. This actually was what I thought during a too short moment of silence during school for the two friends of mine died. -Hah, I forgot about "PAGE BREAK!" again. Sorry I forgot the line. Chapter 19: -Hugging is a "family tradition" for Ella and Dr. M in this chapter. Again, it's another one of those dumb traditions I have with my own family. Chapter 20: -As a Mets fan, the Chicago Cubs isn't a team I should mention, but I'll give the Cubs a nod because I think they're going to win the world series for 2008. It's also a small reference to my favorite book ever, The Comeback Season by Jennifer E. Smith, my favorite book that has to do with these two kids falling in love, thanks to the Cubs. Chapter 21: -Fang and Max talk about how they wished they could be alone and with "maybe someday". I'm sure you remember Nickelback's song called "Someday". Because maybe someday Fang and Max will make it together. Chapter 22: -Fang says that he "feels like crap" in this chapter. It's one of my friend's infamous quotes that's rubbed off on me and we use it all the time when we're feeling sick and stuff. -Read the author's note at the end of this chapter. I think I said something like it's not in my interest to kill any of the flock because it's not in my interest for a good story. If you've read my other fanfiction, Shadows of the Flock, I guess I sort of lied. But hey, Shadows of the Flock is okay, right? Chapter 23: -Max calls the president a "dirty rotten scoundrel". It's a half hearted salute to the movie which I've never seen. -I'll admit I've grown to liking the Cubs a little. Wrigley Field, home to the Chicago Cubs and one of the oldest parks in baseball history. What's not to love about it? It's a full salute to the Cubs this time. -Max says to Fang, "Whatever you want." As you've probably noticed, I like to use song titles as little sayings or quotes by the flock. This happens to be a song by Vienna Teng which I've had the great pleasure of meeting. -Many of you are probably still wondering if Max and Fang actually did it. Well, yes, maybe they did. Reread the chapter and decide for yourself. Chapter 24: -Hehe, I think I can safely say that they did do it. Max and Fang. That's why it's rated T!!! Chapter 25: -Nudge shows concern for Iggy in this chapter after he's kidnapped by an eraser. I haven't decided whether Iggy is going to end up with Nudge or Ella yet. -Lots of optimistic and pessimistic feelings in this chapter! Unforunately, I'm a pessimist. Chapter 26: -President Logan Charles was inspired by President Charles Logan from the 24 TV series. President Charles Logan was a traitor to the US in 24, so I thought it might be fun to base my own fictional president upon him. Originally, I had wanted to name him after Wolverine's real name, also Logan. Chapter 27: -The bellboy, dubbed George, in this chapter is named after this really and incredibly kind bus driver I had. -Fang, according to Max, only talked very politely to Dr. Martinez. It's like me, but the opposite, I treat everyone like crap unless it's by best friends. Chapter 28: -"I looked a lot better than I felt, usually, I thought it was the other way around" says Max when she looks in the mirror. Sometimes cliches are fun to mock. -According to the news report in this chapter, the secret service men that belonged to the president shot at animals, supposedly. Since Prez Logan Charles isn't real, although I'd love to relate him to Bush, it's fun to taunt political figures. Chapter 29: -Foot rests on planes are annoying. So hard to get them in and out, so I decided I'd show Max and Fang struggling with one. Chapter 30: -Wearing Fang's shirt has become a reoccurring thing in this fanfiction. It was like when I was with my boyfriend and he always let me wear his sweatshirts and stuff. -Arizona red rocks are mentioned in this chapter. I've actually been to Arizona. Chapter 31: -Ella shows some affection for Iggy, and he returns the favor. I'm not sure I like Ella and Iggy...but I'm unsure of Nudge and Iggy too. Still undecided where I'm going. -Gazzy taunts Max and Fang and says, "I thought you guys were like making out back here or something." My friends did that to me whenever I was around my boyfriend, well, now ex. Chapter 32: -President Logan Charles, in this chapter, is negotiating with Russia, like President Charles Logan did in 24. -Fang says that, "Maybe your voice will enlighten us. Like Buddha!" I remember sitting in social studies and being so bored learning about Buddha. That's my mockery working again. Chapter 33: -Out of all the states for the president to be in, I chose Iowa because of a story my uncle told me about playing in a band for President Bush Sr. My uncle hated it and decided to be democratic voter. Chapter 34: -Gazzy is complaining about corn in this chapter. I don't like corn either. Chapter 35: -"Personally, I was starting to think that world just needed to save itself like people should throw out their own garbage," Max says in the beginning in the chapter. That's my opinion too. -“Why is everyone always hungry?” A complaint from Max. I'm always hungry. And so are my friends. But I have this one friend who is only hungry when it's meal time, and so she complains too. -Gazzy orders a Mexican omelet, something I can make and it actually tastes good. -"Our luck had been bad lately," is the second to last line in this chapter. Yea, I have really bad luck. Especially at the time I wrote this chapter. Chapter 36: -In this chapter, Max wonders why the corn fields bother Gazzy so much. Like I said, I hate corn. Chapter 37: -While Iggy might not care so much about Fang and Max, I've based Iggy on my boyfriend's best friend who used to tell me everything about my boyfriend and what his popular twin sister said about us. Chapter 38: -"I mean, they had ears, so wouldn’t they listen?" Max says about the corn. Well, isn't that a corny joke? Hehe... -Max is watching baseball games at the restaurant she's eating alone at. The teams playing against the each other were really happening around the time I wrote the chapter. -Ryan Theriot, besides Kosuke Fukudome, is my favorite Cubs player and he is totally worth mentioning (well, of course there's also retired and hall of famer Ryne Sandburg.) Chapter 39: -Marian Janssen is helping the military with "soldier enhancements" which is much like, and I smile saying this, Captain America's Super Soldiers Serum and Wolveirne' Weapon X origins. Maybe I read too many comics. -“And he’s got the scars to prove it.” says Max when Fang shows the prez his scars from Ari. This little saying comes from the song "I've Got the Scars to Prove It" by The Roadhammers. Chapter 40: -“Everything will work out in the end. It always does.” says Max. I say that a lot too. Most of the time, because of my bad luck, it doesn't. Chapter 41: -Max pats Fang's shoulder after Ella awkwardly hugs him. It's my own gesture of humor. But you wouldn't understand, since you don't know me. Chapter 42: -Fang mentions Jumper in this chapter. It was an okay movie. But it was entertaining, and anything that entertains me deserves a nod to. Of course, Fang is mentioning the book, which was totally better. Chapter 43: -A lot of are probably shocked that I made Ella cut herself and attempt suicide. Well, I just read this really good book that had a character with emotional problems, so I thought I'd have a go at it. Chapter 44: -Comfort is something I don't find easy, so that's why I let Fang get a little OOC to comfort Max. Chapter 45: -Advil, never Tylenol. Advil is stronger, and is better. Chapter 46: -Ryan is named after my ex-boyfriend. But Ryan isn't his real name. Identities are secret on the internet. I wouldn't want to put anyone in danger. Chapter 47: -Ella's school lets out at 3:30. Mine does too. -"I’m your worst nightmare!” I say that to everyone who asks me who I am. -"During the worst of times, it was always better to be occupied." Ya, when bad things happen and bother me, you can see me going around doing things just to keep myself busy. Chapter 48: -"I didn’t need to ask if it everything went okay because I knew it didn’t." I get that feeling all the time. Chapter 49: -I honestly didn't really want to hurt Fang. But I guess at the time I was writing this chapter, getting pain out through writing was better than taking it out on my poor friends. Chapter 50: -"he was struggling in an undecided purgatory of life and death." Purgatory...it's one of those words I like to use when I can. Guess this is really the first time I've used it. Chapter 51: -"“Is it some new kind of self torture to sit here and watch an unconscious Fang?” Iggy" What's a Max Ride fanfic without humor at the worst of times? Chapter 52: -“I can shut up whenever you want,” I say that a lot...I tend to ramble in real life. -“I feel like crap,” It's my own way of saying I don't feel good. -“Lucky us.” Wise words of my best friend. |
