An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two hungry wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his
grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

About Lady of the Lake Hello, my name is Vivian, otherwise known as Lady of the Lake. I make and sell Incense with Intent, Happiness Mist, Fairy Dust, among other things. First of all, I am a solitary Pagan residing in this wonderful place called The Universe. I believe in the Law of Attraction and I practice deliberate intent in all aspects of my life. I love animals and have many pets. One of my pets is our starling named Comet, who was snatched from his nest by a predator bird early spring 2007 and then dropped from way up high in the sky. I witnessed this event and was able to save Comet. He now plays a major role in our everyday lives and loves every minute of it! He has learned to talk and enjoys his English lessons. In the summer of 2008 I was able to rescue a young robin with a broken wing. After several trips to the vet, it became apparent that she would never fly and could not be rehabilitated. So she is also a part of our family now and enjoys hopping around each day on our kitchen floor. I have a rabbit named Rocky who I took in, in order to save him from becoming snake dinner, a parakeet named FreeBird, a black cat named Spirit, and our dog, Jezebel, fondly nicknamed "Boon." One of my passions is music and my husband and I play in two bands and also write music. We play a wide variety of styles, including classic rock, Celtic, and Renaissance. I sing and play some keys, while my husband plays guitar. We are writing music now and preparing to record our CD, which is entitled "The Poet's Dream." I am very interested in natural gemstones and greatly admire the beauty and lore behind what Mother Earth has created deep within her crust.

Yule Winter Solstice Around Dec. 21
The Christian tradition of a Christmas tree has its origins in the Pagan Yule celebration. Pagan families would bring a live tree into the home so the wood spirits would have a place to keep warm during the cold winter months. Bells were hung in the limbs so you could tell when a spirit was present. Food and treats were hung on the branches for the spirits to eat and a five-pointed star, the pentagram, symbol of the five elements, was placed atop the tree. A solar festival, The reindeer stag is also a reminder of the Horned God. You will find that many traditional Christmas decorations have some type of Pagan ancestry or significance that can be added to your Yule holiday. Yule is celebrated by fire and the use of a Yule log. Many enjoy the practice of lighting the Yule Log. If you choose to burn one, select a proper log of oak or pine (never Elder). Carve or chalk upon it a figure of the Sun (a rayed disc) or the Horned God (a horned circle). Set it alight in the fireplace at dusk, on Yule. This is a graphic representation of the rebirth of the God within the sacred fire of the Mother Goddess. As the log burns, visualize the Sun shining within it and think of the coming warmer days. Traditionally, a portion of the Yule Log is saved to be used in lighting next year's log. This piece is kept throughout the year to protect the home. Behind the Incense with Intent I first started making incense because I was having a difficult time finding good-quality incense in fragrances that I wanted for my own use. One thing led to another, and people started coming to me to purchase my incense. I have always made incense with intent, which means each fragrance I work with is intended to be used for a specific purpose. I actually charge each batch of incense with this purpose in mind as I’m working with the oils and as the sticks are in the drying stage. All my incense is hand made by me. I soak each fragrance batch thoroughly. When it comes time to dry the sticks, I take them outside and place them in our magic circle, where I charge them with my intentions once again. This circle was built brick by brick by my life partner. It is a round sanctuary with a circular garden growing around the perimeter. In the middle of the circle is a tall pole that casts a shadow as the sun rises on the eastern horizon. This shadow touches specific points on the outside border of the circle at sunrise of the Winter Solstice, Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, and Autumn Equinox. As my incense sticks are drying in the circle under Solus, our sun, they are surrounded with herbs and flowers which are growing around the outer circle, which I also planted with intent. There grows dragon’s blood all the way around for protection; several species of thyme to attract fairies and good spirits; St. John’s wort for healing of mind, body, and spirit; asters for love; and a sprinkling of candy tufts for happiness. Once the incense is dry, it is packaged and labeled by hand and is then ready for use. Even after this process is finished, there is one final step, which happens to be the most important step of all, and that involves you, dear reader. If you intend to burn incense with a purpose in mind, then you must give that purpose your attention as you are preparing your incense to burn. This simply means you must THINK about your intention. Realize that the greatest asset that any of us has is the power of thought. Always think about what you are doing to gain the best results possible, in anything you do. As Dolly Parton said in her song These Old Bones, "The magic is inside you. There ain’t no crystal ball." Please note this incense may be used simply for the pleasure of enjoying the fragrance! Enjoy your incense, have a blessed day, and laugh with the fae! Lady of the Lake …time is an illusion…in a universe of inclusion…
