GIF -- Geospatial Innovation Facility, 111 Mulford Hall

They offer workshops, student support and advise, GPS rentals, lab and storage space, map printing, weekly seminars, and a lot of remote sensing expertise. User-friendly, they invite folks to check them out.

GISC -- Geographic Information Science Center, 412 Wurster Hall

The Campus GIS Center, go here for GIS software, hardware on campus, job listings in GIS, GIS data files (e.g UC Berkeley Campus, City of Berkeley datasets, Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps for California cities (1867-1970)).

Earth Sciences & Map Library -- 50 McCone Hall

They offer workstations, CD/DVDs for check out and data links, not to mention paper maps and climate references.

 

Remote Sensing 

Remote Sensing Resources -- AMNH's Center for Biodiversity & Conservation website written by Ned Horning. Everything for the beginner and resources for the experienced.

Global Land Cover Facility -- Free remote sensing data and products with remote sensing resource links on a NASA-funded site produced by the University of Maryland.

The Landsat archives are available for free for global coverage, either as cloud-free, decadal or individual tiles. Use USGS EarthExplorer or USGS Global Visualization Viewer (glovis) to view and access data.
