Online Materials in Spanish

Registering with Success Net:

To Register with SuccessNet you will need the codes from your online access packs for students, teachers and resources.  Temporarily you may get on and explore with Glen's Log in info.

Temp:
User : gdgordon3
pass: success

Glen will set up Student Codes by the end of the week. (Aug 29, 2008)  Students and parents will be able to login vernon05 Password= vernon05  This will work for general access, but individual accts. will need to be set up to use SuccessTracker for testing.

Once you are online and registered, you may set up classes with student log ins and assign activities and assignments.

When setting up user names it would be helpful if we all used the same protocol so that students and parents could use the same log in year after year.  Teachers should use the same login and password as AIMS for continuity for students and parents.

Teacher will create class with Student logins.  Parents will use Student Logins.  This is needed for SuccessTracker

Codes:

The codes are on your online access packs.  (With information about how to use the online features)  But knowing the patterns for the codes can be helpful if you need to access more than one grade level.

Teacher Resources Codes follow this pattern SFIVTR08NTEN05B (just change the 05 to appropriate grade level)

Student resources Codes follow this pattern SFIVSR08NTEN05B (just change the 05 to appropriate grade level)

Success Tracker Codes follow this pattern SFMAST08NTENI5T (just change the 5 to approriate grade level)

Students and parents will have access to:

  • Shapes: This is accessible to all students online.  Comes as CD in k-2 (you can't save work anywhere, but you can print it)
  • LogoPaths: This is accessible to all students online.  Comes as CD in 3-5 (similar to old logo programs.  Works with direction, angles, programing)
  • ETools:  Online manipulatives.  Not lessons.  (Good for SmartBoards or Projectors) Might be assigned an etools activity based on assessment
  • Online student handbook: Glossary and student help on materials covered throughout the year.  This is also a hard cover book in classroom.
  • Games
  • Assignments and Activities that teacher assigns

Students can be registered  in Spanish or English: Has some Spanish components not all is in Spanish

Teacher Tools Online:  Teachers will have access to summaries not full teacher guide.  Teachers can access blackline masters. Professional Development Articles, Resource masters.  Parent letters.  (English and Spanish)
Soon there will be a tab for teachers to access Extra Activities to supplement to meet the needs specific to Washington State.  This tab will be in top right hand corner.

Using Success Tracker:

When you log in, you can click on "My Account" at the top of the page to add products, build classes, manage your account, etc.

  • Prints out parent letters with login codes.  Can be printed in Spanish or English
  • Teachers can assign tests.  (PDF Version would be great for CPS) Tests are for assigning remediation.  Not for putting grades in a grade book. Best to take test in one setting at school.  Don't leave to do at home.  (Testing might happen in a school lab)
  • There are unit tests provided.  Once a student takes a test, remedial activities are assigned.  Student must complete these remedial activities before moving on to the next test.
  • Online reports for teachers, shows graphs, activities assigned to students, compare students, etc. Students must complete assignments before they can move to next test.
  • You can assign activities, not just tests online. You can choose activities based on the focus points you choose.
  • Math helper tutorials also can be assigned.  ( Would be nice to schedule a math day each week in lab??)
  • Teachers have access to a master roster in case a child is being serviced by more than one teacher.  Each teacher can assign tests and activities as appropriate for that child.
Resource CD: Has blackline masters, games, and either LogoPath or Shapes.

ExamView: This was not discussed, but this is an incredible resource.  I will share more in tutorials and classes later.  With ExamView, you have a test bank that you can use to create your own tests and worksheets.  You can also create your own test banks.  This will be useful for all subjects, not just math.  As a district, we could share and add to test banks.  Very exciting.  There are also other test banks besides Investigations that we might be able to use as well.  Many of the questions on ExamView can be changed from Multiple Choice to Short Answer.  Some of the questions are dynamic so you can set up a type of question and then it will change the amounts and names so that you can have an unending amount of questions for a certain skill by just creating one question. I'd be happy to set up a workshop to share if teachers are interested.

Please report any issues with computer access to your Tech Coaches.  It is possible that flash might need to be downloaded in order for a program to work.  I am checking on issues with Flash and Thin Clients to see if I can find any solutions.
