  • SQUIRES…our FOOD DRIVE HAS BEGUN!  One week left for us to donate food for local shelters and food banks.  Let's get going, Squires! 

 

  • A reminder to our 6th grade science classes, you will be meeting in the library today for class.  Mr. John Goar will be presenting the night sky and telescopes for you.  Please go directly to the library.   

 

  • Staff, local businesses are beginning to advertise great prices for family Thanksgiving dinners.  If you are willing to donate a meal, please let Mrs. Mach know.  Donations will need to be picked up and purchased no later than Monday, November 23rd. 

 

 

  •   Squires, please remember to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE!  Now that the rainy season is here and we get to stay indoors more now during lunches, please remember to have inside voices and self control.  Thank you!

  • Students who went to our FIRST COSTUME BALL and who bought their ticket in advance for the Twilight ball, you will be receiving a reward TOMORROW DURING LUNCH!  Our PTA has the list of names of students who purchased early, so don’t worry if you forgot.  You will be getting a treat and a notebook!  Again, your reward will be given during THIS FRIDAY’S LUNCH!

 

 

  • Pink Yogurt lids…we’re still collecting these.  If you have some, please take them to Ms. Olson in B-200. 

 

  • Staff, local businesses are beginning to advertise great prices for family Thanksgiving dinners.  If you are willing to donate a meal, please let Mrs. Mach know.  Donations will need to be picked up and purchased no later than Monday, November 23rd.

  • SQUIRES…our FOOD DRIVE HAS BEGUN! Let’s get donating soon!  Posters are up reminding us, announcements are reminding us and this week we’ll have a flier go home that will remind us a bit more!  The only thing we aren’t doing is FOLLOWING THROUGH!  Please donate a few items.  Many families rely on these donations!  Thank you!

  • Good morning, Squires!  I'm ___________ your ASB____________.  Today’s Thursday, November 5th!  FUNDRAISER ITEM PICK UP DAY!      

 

 

  • SQUIRES…our FOOD DRIVE HAS BEGUN!  Donations are looking pretty small, so LET’S GET DONATING, SQUIRES!  Let’s challenge each other to bring in a few items to donate…pretty soon, we’ll have over 2000 DONATIONS!  It’ll be EASY!  We just need to follow through. 

 

  • Staff, local businesses are beginning to advertise great prices for family Thanksgiving dinners.  If you are willing to donate a meal, please let Mrs. Mach know.  Donations will need to be picked up and purchased no later than Monday, November 23rd. 

 

 

  • ASB REPRESENTATIVES…your FIRST meeting will be held after school on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th!  We can’t wait to get together!

 

 

  • Squires...do you want to learn how to beat box, break dance, and how to be an effective performer?  Come build your confidence at this new club starting here at MVMS!  This will be a safe place to express yourself through rhyme, rhythm, song and dance.  Come to the choir room on Thursdays after school beginning THIS THURSDAY!  You will be expected to participate if you attend! 

 

  • Our FUNDRAISER ITEMS will be here TODAY!  An automated message went out last evening to remind you that items are to be picked up TODAY from 2-7pm!  We can’t store items, so PLEASE PICK THEM UP TODAY!

 

  • Looking ahead to NEXT WEEK...we will be having TWO DAYS worth of ASSEMBLIES, both on Monday and Tuesday, as well AS NO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY in recognition for Veteran's Day.  Looks like it'll be a fun-filled week! 

 

 

  •   Squires, please remember to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE!  Many students have been given a food treat as a reward from a simple jolly rancher to ice cream bars.  We LOVE that however many of you are failing to throw the garbage away and are simply tossing it on the ground in the hallways and outside.  PLEASE THROW GARBAGE AWAY.  If we do not change our behaviors, treats will no longer be allowed.  It’s easy…just throw your garbage away.  Thanks

  • SQUIRES…our FOOD DRIVE HAS BEGUN!  The van will be available for cramming food right away!  Remember, we are competing against grade levels.  Let’s see which grade can bring in the MOST FOOD!  We challenge you to bring two items to school to donate.  Together we can donate over 2000 items just by doing that!  If you can, we'd greatly appreciate it!

Congratulations to the following Mountain View students who were accepted to be a part of the 2010 Washington All State Junior Choir...Justin Gould, Shaylyn Joice, Kinsey Reed, and Bethany Schippers.  These students will be traveling to Yakima in February to sing with other fine singers from across Washington!  Way to go!
 
More congratulations are in order for the following 6th grade students who were accepted to be part of the 2010 Washington All State Youth Choir!  Olivia Aylsworth, William Beliakoff, Connor Phillips, and Nikki Rogers.  These students will be traveling to Yakima as well in February to sing with other singers from across the state!  Nice work, ladies and gentlemen!

OUR COSTUME BALL was a GREAT SUCCES!  We would like to thank all of you who came to the event as well as those of you who helped decorate, plan and implement our first ever costume ball!   

 

 

 

  • Our FIRST AFTERSCHOOL SOCIAL of the year is TOMORROW!  We’re having a TURKEY THEME!  We hope you can come and join us after school until 4pm.  Cost is $3 or FREE with your ASB CARD!  Teachers will collect your money at the end of their 8th period class and walk you down to the dance when given the all-call to do so.  The activity bus will be running so you’ll be able to get a ride home from the dance!  We hope to see you come!

7th and 8th Grade guys...Are you interested in playing basketball?  Tryouts will begin on TODAY at 3:00 in the gym.  Athletic packets SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED (including your physical) and turned into the office before today so that you can try out.  When you make the team, you will also need to purchase your ASB CARD before you can play.  Good luck at tryouts!  We can’t wait to hear who will be on our Squires Basketball team!

  • Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye…NICE JOB LAST FRIDAY AT OUR ASSEMBLY!  Our behaviors were amazing!  We want to thank the jazz band and Mrs. Helm in playing for us and keeping the excitement going as we entered and exited the assembly.  We are excited to have your group do more for us as the assemblies go on throughout the year.  We also want to thank both teams and their coaches for entertaining us and being brave enough to dress in each others’ outfits to play a game of volleyball!  Oh, and guys…we’ll keep you in the pads and the ladies in their shorts!

  • HEY SQUIRES…YOUR PTA will be hosting a SQUIRE COSTUME BALL ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!  Just We look forward to having our FIRST EVER COSTUME BALL!  You will be able to purchase your tickets this week and next week.  We hope you all can come! 

 

 

  • SQUIRES…our FOOD DRIVE BEGINS TODAY!  We will be collecting canned food, non-perishable foods (pasta, dry foods, etc), and pet food!  We will be collecting food ON THE STAGE!  Each grade level will have their own area to put their items on. The leadership class, ASB and the PTA is coming up with great ideas on how we will compete with each grade level.  The winning class will haven an incredible reward!  We’re looking at bringing in the LARGEST donation ever!  We want the newspaper reporters to come and do a community piece on us, so LET’S STEP UP AND DONATE!  Our food drive goes until Monday, November 23rd.

  • PINK LIDS FOR THE CURE…Mrs. Olson is collecting the pink Yoplait yogurt lids again this year and she needs your help to raise money for cancer research.  We saved almost 1000 lids last year.  As of yesterday, we are now up to just over 200 lids!  We're slowly collecting them.
