Stainer's Crucifixion - Saturday 16th April 2011 ![]() "Stainer's Crucifixion: a meditation on the Passion" was performed by Voices in Accord on Saturday 16th April at 8pm. Voices in Accord had previously performed at Christ Church along with Hermitage School Choir back in October 2009. About Voices in Accord “Voices in Accord” is a small group of people who enjoy making music together, singing mixed harmony pieces. Their repertoire includes songs from the shows, sacred pieces, and popular music ranging from the 1920s to 1980s. The group is affiliated to the Hillingdon Arts Association (HAA). The group was originally named “The Miscellany Singers” under the direction of their then-conductor, Gwynne Evans, who arranged most of the music which the group sang. Upon Gwynne’s retirement in 1995 the group renamed itself “Voices in Accord” under the leadership of Carol Williams, and the baton of Sue Forrest. In the past the Group (as both “Miscellany Singers” and “Voices in Accord”) has represented the Borough at various Town Twinning events in Germany, both in Emden and Schleswig. The group rehearse at St John’s Church Hillingdon, with which it has close ties. Fund raising has included several thousand pounds for “Save the Children”, and various smaller amounts for other national charities. |
