Monckton & Friends

Monckton & Friends - Saturday 21st February 2009

The Monckton referred to in the title of this concert is Lionel Monckton (1862 - 1924), a popular British composer of light musical comedies in the early 1900s, the most famous being 'The Arcadians'. The evening featured songs from "The Arcadians" as well as from other musical comedies from the same era, including "Floradora", "A Country Girl" and "Bless The Bride".

Our performers for this evening were three singers from the Royal Opera Chorus - Glenys Groves (soprano), Andrea Hazell (contralto) and Jonathan Fisher (bass) who were accompanied by Scilla Stewart on the piano.

Proceeds from this concert were donated to the Hillingdon U3A Choir.
