You won't find any deals unless you look for them, Pawn Shops and garage sales are good places. eBay can get frustrating, expensive in a bidding war, and sometimes shipping can be way expensive. When you find a vintage guitar with an original hard case for under $100, you can only ask if they'll sell it for $75 because of all the stickers on it. I know Aria is not a high-end brand, but a $75 project, if I can double my money, I can put the labor profits into the StarFire account. Once it's cleaned up, I'd be interested in hearing how it sounds and playing it, but I'll have to use a lot of Goo Gone before that.
It seems to be a medium, 32" scale (not a short +/-30" or full 34"-35"). The neck is very slim and guitar like, similar to the Madiera - that's only a 30" scale. The passive pickup could be a P bass in disguise or a humbucker with exposed pole pieces for the top two strings and bottom two strings on opposite coils. I'll know more once I take a closer look.
The case had a few stickers and a bunch of old fabric-backed duct tape. I need to see if I can find a Tolex repair kit to fix the corners and small rips - but first, a lot more Goo Gone. |
