DeArmond JetStar Bass

Wow!  Another exceptional deal!  I bought this one "by accident" on eBay - who would have thought a clean DeArmond JetStar Special bass would go for less than $103?  I don't have it yet, but it's paid for, the shipping was a bit steep at $50, and there's only a gig bag, but I won't complain.  Currently a passive P-bass single pick-up.  Once I get it I'll look at adding another surface-mount pickup, like a reverse P/J bass setup.  Unfortunately, the P bass pickup is very close to the bridge, and most P/J setups have the Jazz pickup closer to the bridge.  I'll have to see if I can find a deal and temporary mount a Jazz bass pickup closer to the neck and see how it sounds.  I guess the other alternative would be to try a bass MIDI pickup and play with that, I've been wanting to do that on a guitar too.  I don't want to route or otherwise damage the bass, I have a mini-humbucker to replace the neck pickup on the Madiera, but that would take routing and a ring or pickguard.  I've also got a 4-string piezo bridge/tailpiece - but that would take modification too.  Maybe I'll just put on some flat-wounds play it a bit and then sell it, maybe double my money in a year or two, and call it good.

More info soon, not sure of the scale length yet, or other dimensions.  I'll be looking for some more information, wood, etc. and post that here too.  This one was "Crafted in Indonesia"  - I think the serial number says it's from 1999.
