Parents


OUR MISSION

We are a group of parents, faculty members, and community members that supports, with our time, energy and fund raising activities, both the instrumental and vocal music programs at MHSS including the Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Color Guard, and Choir. 

Examples of support include chaperoning games, festivals, competitions, and trips; helping to organize events such as trips and the band festival; providing fund raising opportunities for student individual accounts which reduce the cost of trips, proving funds the help miscellaneous expenses on trips, band camp, and festivals, providing thank-you gifts for seniors, providing scholarships (for MSS members), providing funds for equipment, providing funds for competition fees and tickets, and subsidizing miscellaneous student needs, such as band shirts and trip costs.

We urge all our families to become members of Music Sponsors South for a fee of $35.00 per year per family. Your membership fee helps to fund purchases of items for the music department and color guard. Membership benefits include the opportunity for your senior music students to apply for scholarships; all member students receive a subsidy toward the annual trip, if applicable; and parents may vote at general and special meetings.

Memberships for the 2011-2012 season closes November 1.

Volunteers Needed!


     Do you attend the HSS football games and have time to help chaperone our band?
     Are you crafty and like to put together items for auction baskets?
     Do you like meeting people?
     How about volunteering at our food booth?
     Enjoy planning special events?
     We could use your expertise with any of the fund raising activities.
 
Please review the volunteer information below and consider giving the best gift of all your time to support your student's musical interest. Your student may return your information to the Band Director or mail it to MSS, P. O. Box 355, Middletown, NJ 07748. If you have questions, contact a MSS President or one of the VPs. MUSIC SPONSORS SOUTH CALENDAR

Meeting for this year will be held in the South Band Room on the Second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. If you haven't already, you will have a chance to meet our Band Director. The monthly music sponsors meetings are your opportunity to meet the officers and committee heads and other "veteran" parents. We will be able to provide you with valuable "inside information," the type that our students tend to "forget" to tell you about.
