History:
After completing his education, Fred became a Police Officer for 7 years. He purchased a gym in 1978. The day the gym was to open it burned to the ground. With no insurance after the fire, he negotiated a small business loan, rebuilt the Fitness Center and spent the next 16 years there.
Owning a small business forced Fred to study sales, marketing and training. He showed a certain talent for these fields, which accounts for the diversity in his experiences. His love for law enforcement accounts for the close relationship he has always kept to the law enforcement field designing training programs etc.

In 1978 Fred retired for the Police Force and purchased a small Fitness Center. After completely renovating the center it burned to the ground the night of the re-opening. With No insurance Fred negotiated a small business loan, rebuilt the Fitness Center and spent the next 16 years there.
In 1990 Fred met Tudor Bompa . Realizing the potential of Bompa's theories Fred sold his center and began to work on the Periodization concept full time. In 1991 Ironman Magazine's owner John Balik asked Fred to write a column on these new concepts of training.
The response from the readers was so high that Balik asked Fred to begin the Ironman Training System using these Peridoization concepts.
Fred designed a computer system with MS excel to give exact sets and reps for the Periodization concept to people. This allowed Fred to train people throughout the world by mail. He continues to develop and uses this sytsem with all his athletes and ftiness students. During this period Fred and Robert Blom RPT, developed abdominal routines and theories that were to change the thinking of training abdominal muscles in sports and fitness. Fred's column in Ironman was directed towards the function of muscles and how they relate to bodybuilding, not the old ways of training. Science had entered exercsie. When Fred started writng for Ironman the other top Bodybuilding and fitness magazines asked him to write for them also.
The sports magazine relized fast that these conepts were perfectly fittedfor the Sports magazines. In 1996 Fred was asked to participate in the US Navy Seals symposium on bringing strength training to the Seals training. From this symposium Fred was asked to write the chapter on Strength training based on periodization concepts. In 1997 Fred met and Married Ingunn Helle and moved to Norway where she was from. Fred's first team in Norway was the KSA swim team. He was strength coach for KSA from 2001-2006. Boxing Team
Viper's, professional women's team handball. In 2003 Fred met Gro-Marit Istad Kristiansen one of Norway's top Biathletes. She had just come off a period of overtraining and felt adding strength training to her training would help her in the future. In 2005 Gro-marit won a world championship in sprint and the women's coaches said in part due to here strength she was the future of the sport.
After beginning to train Gro-Marit, Ole Einar Bjordalen noticed her change due to the increased strength and asked Fred to train him.
Ole Einar Bjorndalen is the top Biathlete in History, He currently has 78 Gold medals in world cup and Olympic competitions.
The success with Gro-Marit and Ole Einar led to Fred being asked to be the strength coach for the Norwegian Men and Woemen's Biathlon A-Teams.
In 2002 Carl Berthelsen, superbike became rookie of the year. He decided he need more. Fred has been his strength coach from 2003. Note: In 2004 Carl crashed and had shoulder surgery. In 2005 Carl broke his neck. Fred used periodization techniques to design his rehabiltation programs after both injuries. In 2007 Carl was the Scandianvian Champion.

Strength Trainng for sports was written on the concepts of Periodization and the science of muscles.
The Ironman Training System was based on Fred and Tudor's concepts of Periodization. The Ironman Training system conept was used in a college course on strength trainings and planning.
