The University of Alabama has access to world class technology in the field of education, SuperTeaching, that has been tried and tested for over 20 years in the United States of America and has shown that it affects the quality of learning and retention among students/pupils exposed to SuperTeaching (ST). SuperTeaching has won congressional approval for public education in the United States.

The ST system surrounds each teacher with a living “theater of education” while the instructor delivers the existing lesson plan paying no attention to the class room upgrade. A multiple of images are shown on the screen, including images of the students themselves, the teacher, the content, nature scenes to relax the mind and record data more deeply, using any media from power point to distant learning.

A teacher requires only ONE HOUR to master using the system due to the level of automation. The learners enjoy the teaching more, pay more attention, and retain more information making Super Teaching a break through in modernizing class room design.

Why SuperTeaching and Youth?

Youth contribute to the sustainable development of the planet. We do both them and the planet a disservice if we overlook their contribution and their potential to influence development efforts in their countries worldwide.

Their energies are driven by technology and as such their learning is enhanced by technology. SuperTeaching is a methodology embedded in technology, and can be the motor that drives youth participation, builds youth leadership and capabilities and enhances learning for transformation.

SuperTeaching is a natural alliance for sustainable learning and for forging sustainable futures for youth.

SuperFutures Learning Centres will be created with a range of ST technological resources for students and out-of school youth to support their learning, so that they can earn and be transformed. More than 3 billion youth await SuperFutures.

UNESCO leads the global Education for All movement, aiming to meet the learning needs of all children, youth and adults by 2015.

The World Programme of Action for Youth: Proposals for Action on Participation
(A/RES/50/81) call for

a.Improving access to information in order to enable young people to make better use of their opportunities to participate in decision-making; b.DevelopIng and/or strengthening opportunities for young people to learn their rights and responsibilities, promoting their social, political, developmental and environmental participation, removing obstacles that affect their full contribution to society and respecting, inter alia, freedom of association;

c.Encouraging and promoting youth associations through financial, educational and technical support and promotion of their activities;

d.Taking into account the contribution of youth in designing, implementing and evaluating national policies and plans affecting their concerns;

e.Encouraging increased national, regional and international cooperation and exchange between youth organizations;

The Conference was organized to be an effective forum for global dialogue about youth-related issues and foster the international community's commitment to study concrete mechanisms of settling problems that affect the youth of the world, as well as serve as "a platform for debate on the problems experienced by young people all over the world and to formulate strategies for the future".

In many developing countries, young men and women experience increased difficulties in their social integration because of limited opportunities for education and training, viable employment, health and social services and the complexity of problems associated to the unprecedented rates of rural-urban migration, among other factors.

In industrialised countries, young people comprise a relatively smaller proportion of the total population because of generally lower birth rates and longer life expectancy.

One factor, however, is common to developing and industrialised countries alike: young men and women, with their imagination, ideals, considerable energies and vision are essential for the continuing social, cultural, economic and technological development of the societies in which they live.

Ten years have now passed since the Conference and where are we now? More of the same... with some progress in advocacy
