The Church of Truth and Beauty
Today's world seems mainly characterized by suffering, even the power of our mighty advances in technology have failed at insulating our lives from loss and pain. The abundance of natural disasters, famine, poverty, wars, disease, racism, hatred, terrorism and, above all, the marked lack of love in today's world leaves many with the impression that God is not here.
Does it feel like something is always missing from your life? Have you ever bought something, filled with the hope that it would really change your life for the better, only to be disappointed once it didn't live up to the hype, and you realized you didn't even want it? If you feel like a hamster on a wheel, running to keep up with everyone else, you're not alone. We have all been deceived, our lives are a like a house of cards we struggle to keep from crashing down on us. Life is not a consumable product, even though it's marketed that way. No matter how elaborate the facade we build for ourselves, inevitably it will come to an end. The idea that we are in control of our lives is only an illusion.
It is possible to live a life free of pretense and,and free of the addiction to the temporary, fleeting, and expensive thrills of consumermism. Freedom is not merely being able to choose what products we can buy, it is a life without addiction and slavery to ever changing trends. Freedom is knowing we don't need to waste energy trying to impress people or show them that we are good enough, worthy of their affection.
God's forgiveness is freely available to everyone, though you may feel alone, God can be a source of strength in terrible times, faith can transform the worst moments in life, be an island of peace throughout the most violent storm. When no one will help you, when you are isolated, alone, afraid, your only hope is a loving and personal God, He is always willing to give you another chance, and always willing to give you the strength to face each day. The way to freedom is to surrender your life to Jesus, only He is perfect in compassion, and infinite in mercy, and only He can restore the love that's missing from our lives.
