"SeaSkin was born from the notion that we are, as humans, directly connected with our environment. We are a part of the air we breath, the earth we derive nourishment from and tread on, the water we play in and consume.
We often go about our lives with a certain ideology; that we are fundamentally detached from any environmental dilapidation. The plastic bag thrown away will not end up killing a sea turtle, it disappears when the garbage is hauled away.
Our insatiable need to consume is unsustainable. We know this, but we continue on with our lives as usual. Striving to protect our oceans is not merely for the sake of our oceans or because of their beauty, or it's the right thing to do. In actuality, it's to save ourselves.
I'm not a "tree-hugger". I'm not a radical environmentalist. I'm just a person who paints. My art is inspired by a world that is desperately in need of our guardianship. I am compelled, I am determined and I am inspired. You should be too."
