Regular follow-up visits: $65 Tui Na Massage, Chinese Herbology and Other Services Often, I will provide between 10-15 minutes of complementary Tui-Na Massage on the areas of greatest tension, with a regular acupuncture session. Tui Na is Chinese acupressure massage that involves kneading, pressing and stimulating the meridians of the body in order to promote blood circulation and improve flexibility of joints. Sometimes, patients tell me they would like to receive more massage with treatment, or wish to book a session with just massage. Additional Tui Na bodywork is billed in 15 minute increments ($15 per each additional 15 minutes, beyond the initial 15 minutes of complementary Tui Na). Tui Na bodywork without needles, such as a full hour of Tui-Na, is billed at $75. Herbal consultations are free for patients who are undergoing any other treatment with me, whether acupuncture or bodywork. If only herbs are sought, the consultation is $25.00 plus the cost of herbs, typically between $5-15 per weekly dose. Herbal therapies may require short or long courses of taking the herbs, and this depends on the condition for which they are being ingested.. The types of herbal preparations dispensed -- pills and/or granules -- are chosen to match diagnosis. Granules are finely powdered herbs that can be mixed with water and can be taken like a nice hot cup of tea. Patented formulas that are popular combinations of herbs for the most common conditions (usually pills). Granules are more complex combinations that are combined based on a case-by-case basis, and thus can be modified over time as the condition of health changes. The latter is chosen for more complex cases, or for patients who require a combination of herbs not available in pill form. Chinese herbs dispensed are all moderately priced, processed and handled according to GMP standards, and have been tested to ensure that there are no added filters or contaminants. Herbal clinical training in herbs is as thorough as acupuncture training, and our practitioners are nationally certified Chinese herbalists, having passed the National Board in Chinese Herbology, prepared by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Other Chinese adjunct therapies that may be utilized during acupuncture treatment include cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, electroacupuncture, and auricular acupuncture. These techniques use manual therapies to move qi in the meridians, warm the channels, balance yin and yang, and dispel pathogens lodged between skin and muscles, where many early stage illness lies. Each modality is based on patient information, history and diagnosis. These adjunct therapies are powerful, especially when used in combination with regular acupuncture treatment.
