I love children and being a teacher! I have been teaching for 12 years and have taught 3, 4, and 5th grades. I moved to Raleigh in the summer of 2007 all the way from Okinawa, Japan where I lived and taught for 5 fabulous years. I worked for the Department of Defense as a teacher to children whose parents served in the military and were stationed in Okinawa. I was able to travel the world and experience things I'd only dreamed of. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in Elementary Education and began my teaching career in Black Mountain, NC. From there, I moved to my home state of Alabama and taught while pursuing my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University. My sense of adventure took off and I headed for Okinawa, Japan in 2002. After 5 wonderful years, my heart was calling me home and I moved back to the Carolina's two years ago. So, my teaching career has literally taken me around the world and back again!
I am a proud Air Force brat and fiancee of a Army helicopter pilot who recently returned from a year long deployment to Iraq. We are looking foward to our wedding in December.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, Auburn football, southern hospitality, cooking, music and theater, sushi , and spending time with friends and family. I am currently taking graduate classes to add certification as an Academically Gifted teacher to my teaching license. I love learning and applying new ideas to my classroom and students. I look forward to another great year as a teacher at Sycamore Creek! Our crocs rock!
