The MSU German Club holds regular gatherings on alternating Thursdays, at 7:30 p.m., in the Lake Huron room on the 3rd floor of the MSU Union. Note that this is a NEW TIME AND LOCATION. At these gatherings, we can discuss upcoming events, watch German films
or TV shows, play games in German, listen to German music, and more. The current favorite
activity is board games - we have German versions of Monopoly, Clue,
Settlers of Catan, and others! If you have an idea for a club gathering,
let us know. See the calendar above for a full list of upcoming activities. In addition, the German Club coordinates the occasional special event. Previously, we've sent volunteers to the Lansing Old Town Oktoberfest, held a German picnic and Faschingsparty, and taken trips to Uncle John's Cider Mill with the CMU German Club. See event photos at the Facebook group (log in to Facebook to follow link). This semester: Faschingsparty 2009 On February 19th, we had our second annual Faschingsparty to celebrate Fasching/Karneval (similar to Mardi Gras) with masks, costumes, games, music, food, and more. See Facebook for pictures. Frankenmuth Field Trip April 4 was our field trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan ("Michigan's Little Bavaria"). We toured the museum to learn about German immigrants in Michigan, had dinner at one of the German restaurants, made pretzels, and enjoyed the town's other attractions. German Club has its own soccer team in the intramural indoor
league. If you like to play and are prepared to dedicate yourself to coming regularly, send us an email and we'll tell you all
about it. Those who aren't playing, go to some games and cheer on your friends! Contact Fi Williams for more information.
