November 9, 2009 Dear Parents and Guardians, I am thrilled to announce that our first Tricky Tray Extravaganza netted over $15,000 for our School. Again, I wish to thank all who donated their time, talent, and treasure to this wonderful evening. With a nip in the air, we are reminded that Winter is just around the corner. In the event of inclement weather, you may check for school delays and closings by calling the School’s Main Office after 6:00 AM. You may also log onto our webpage, www.hfcanorwood.com, www.cancellations.com, and www.News12.com. WNBC-TV Channel 4 and Channel 12 will also have a list of school delays and closings. All of this information can be found in the Main Office File Cabinet under Emergency Forms and Weather Emergency Information. Our Student Council is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Office of Concern of St. Cecilia Church. A flyer was sent home suggesting special items needed - frozen turkeys, stuffing, canned vegetables, etc. Food can be placed in the box in the hallway outside of the Main Office. Thank you, as always, for your generosity. Please make sure to check your family’s White Envelope each week for important information. This may include outside community registrations and events, as well as, Home School Association flyers and lunch order forms. It is just as important to return the Envelope in a timely manner so we can continue to keep you informed. Our School Nurses, Mrs. Squires and Mrs. Horvat, have been busy educating the students, faculty, and staff on what measures we can take to reduce our chances of getting the flu. They have attached web pages from the Bergen County Department of Health and the American Academy of Pediatrics to their File Cabinet for your reference. Mrs. Squires and Mrs. Horvat are asking for your help in complying with a directive from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS). NJDHSS is requesting we monitor all absences due to influenza-like illness and other illnesses. When you phone to report your child’s absence, kindly list all symptoms so we can comply with this New Jersey State directive. We thank you in advance for your support and understanding in this matter. In the Main Office File Cabinet you will find information describing Holy Family Catholic Academy’s new Scrip program. Scrip is a term that means “substitute money” and can be used to purchase everyday items like food, clothing, and gifts. You will find order forms to purchase gift certificates and prepaid cards from your favorite stores – Barnes & Noble, Macy’s, Shop Rite, Dunkin Donuts, etc, in the File Cabinet as well. A percentage of all proceeds go directly to the School. Thank you to all who sent in their Unicef boxes. At this time, we only have a little over $130 to donate to Unicef. If you still have your boxes, please return them as soon as possible. Please check the important dates listed below.
