GREAT WATER ODYSSEY The Great Water Odyssey has creative, interactive lessons designed specifically to reach 5th grade students and teach them about the importance of our water resources. It is an animated story that follows waterdrops Hydro and Agua through the town of Olliewood. The waterdrops change state, float through Florida’s wetlands, rivers and aquifers. The waterdrops recall Florida’s past and even help residents plan their future through water conservation and waterwise landscaping. Each animated learning module is followed by an interactive exploration screen, where students earn points by exploring a scene that reinforces the lesson. For more information, go to: http://thegreatwaterodyssey.com/ This program is sponsored by South Florida Water Management.

Yes…this is the sneaky way to help you learn techniques to bring science into the real world of students and YOU. You will learn to calculate work =force x distance by doing some work over a varying distances (like walking a trail.) Who does more work? The 110 pound sprightly one who makes it for 3 miles without breaking a sweat or the 200 pound body of American health who covers 2 miles in the same amount of time?
Experiment with healthy snacks every day. Do you feel better after some snacks than others? How about Density? Compare floating that beach ball with floating a golf ball while you are trying to stand up on a surfboard? What is floating all about anyway? It’s free camp for you…that even pays a healthy stipend.
