Google Docs

Over the next couple of days, your student will be setting up a Google Doc account which is an online file cabinet for documents.  Google Docs also has primitive word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.  The beauty of Google Docs, is that your student can access their files from ANY computer that they get on; that is, home, school, library or any other location your student might be. That means there is no longer a need for keeping up with thumb sized drives and risking viruses!  Please Take a Tour of the Internet site that your student will soon know and love!

Additionally, because we are basically a paperless classroom, this site will allow me to digitally comment on papers and presentations, set up student work-group collaborations online, and provide quick feedback for submitted work.  By the way, your student will be able to submit all of their work to me online!  No need for paper!

I want you to know, this is a safe site.  There are viewing rules in place that allow for the user to decide who has permission to see the documents they are creating.  Furthermore, students are taught to use their first name and last initial ONLY on any documents in my class per our school internet usage policy.

I know that you will be just as happy as I am as you watch your student grow and learn this new educational technology. If you have any questions, or you want me to help you set up an account too because you see your student loving it, please let me know.
