![]() Hello! I just wanted to take a bit of time to introduce myself. I am a graduate of Ithaca College where I earned a degree in Biology. So, how did I go from a Biology degree and into teaching Chemistry? I went to William Paterson College where I took the required teaching coursework. I then sat for the teaching tests and ended up with 2 certificates, one in Elementary Education and one in Comprehensive Science (which is a fancy term for "you can teach any Science"...and I have). After Ithaca, I decided living in Africa sounded like a fun thing to do. So I joined the Peace Corps and spent 2 years in Tanzania, East Africa. There I was helping villagers raise Tilapia for food. After Africa, I had a teaching job for 1 year, then moved down to Cape May County where I drove a school bus for about 2 years. After I had enough of bus driving I went to school for X-ray Technology. Therefore, I am also a licensed X-ray Technologist. I left X-ray, and went back into teaching and been teaching full time for about 14 years or so. This year will be my 11th year at Tech. I love teaching, I love teaching Chemistry (even though most kids can't relate), and I specifically love teaching at Tech. The students are wonderful! Well, enough about me. If you would like to, you can personally contact me at: mailto:lnelson@capemaytech.com or call me at 465-2161 x 157, but e-mail would be better. I would enjoy hearing from you! Take care, Ms. Nelson |
