TAKS Parent Information Night~ March 3, 2011

Dear Parents/Guardians,

     Next Week: Thursday~ March 3, 2011 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm, I will be hosting a TAKS Information Session for you to provide you with critical information on how to help prepare your child at home for the upcoming 8th Grade SCIENCE TAKS TEST.  
Information will also be available on other content areas such as Math, Reading, and Social Studies.

Pre-Freshman Engineering program being offered at HT!

Hello Parents and Future Scientists and Engineers:

Please see the link below for information about a Pre-Freshman Engineering program being offered at HT.  They will not be charging a fee for 2011.  It is for middle and high school students interested in Science and Engineering.

This is a Great Opportunity for our students to enrich their Science/Engineering studies!

I wanted to inform you that Next Week: 2/15 through 2/18, students will be taking the MOY (Middle of The Year Benchmark) TEST.
HERE IS THE TESTING SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK:

MONDAY~ Review for the SCIENCE Benchmark
TUESDAY~ Reading Test
WEDNESDAY~ Math Test
THURSDAY~ SCIENCE TEST
FRIDAY~ Social Studies Test

*Please encourage your child to DO THEIR BEST on these EXAMS as the DATA will be used to PLACE STUDENTS IN TUTORING AS NEEDED.

Science Intervention NOTICES:

During the month of December I sent out Science Interventions Notices to inform parents of students who scored less than 50% on the recent Benchmark Exam.  Students were also informed of the requirement to attend a minimun of 2 days of Science Tutorials.
This is an effort to encourage you to encourage your child to attend the needed interventions to help them on Low Scoring Objectives.
 
As you may know, the 8h Grade SCIENCE TAKS Test is right around the corner, (April) and it is critical that students receive the necessary interventions.
Keep in mind that The Texas Education Agency has acknowledged Science as a Critical Subject Area which students must pass in order to graduate from High School.
Concepts being taught this year, will also be included in their 10th Grade Science Test.
 
I am here to help your child be successful on this year's Science TAKS Test.
