Decker Graduation 2011
Student "Spotlight of The Month"
This month, I would like to recognize San Juanita Garcia. She is an 8th student here at Decker Middle School. She is in my 5th period Science class. I have selected her this month for her continued hard work and demonstration and diligence in Science. San Juanita has gone above and beyond by setting an example for her peers, as well as helping her peers on assignments. San Juanita always comes to class on time and is always ready to learn. She was one of the First students to complete ALL of her Science Interactive Notebook assignments. Thank you San Juanita for all your hard work and your AWESOME attitude! Keep it up! ; )
WORD OF THE WEEK:
LUNAR PHASE:
A lunar phase or phase of the moon is the appearance of the illuminated (lit-up) portion of the Moon as seen by an observer, usually on Earth. The lunar phases change cyclically as the Moon orbit's the Earth, according to the changing relative positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. One half of the lunar surface is always illuminated by the Sun (except during lunar eclipses), and hence is bright, but the portion of the illuminated hemisphere that is visible to an observer can vary from 100% (full moon) to 0% (new moon). The boundary between the illuminated and unilluminated hemispheres is called the terminator.
