Preparing Your Child For Kindergarten (article/video)

For the first day of school, please make sure your child has a SMALL backpack to carry their lunch and two small healthy snacks (we recess twice a day besides lunch). A sweatshirt may also be needed as the campus has its own micro-climate. A change of undies and pants is also a good idea!

Ms. J's Manifesto
Through the Kindergarten school year, as your child's teacher I will:
  • prepare and present developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the key CA State Standards and the Mission of CSMH
  • provide a fair classroom environment based on respect and responsibility, with a discipline structure involving natural consequences to ensure a learning environment for every child
  • communicate with care givers on a regular basis as to their child's needs to succeed to their personal ability
As caregivers, I ask that you:
  • ensure your child has adequate rest, healthy meals/snacks, play time, and bonding time with family and friends
  • give your child opportunities to practice responsibility and independence
  • appropriately communicate with me your concerns when they arise
  • support classroom expectations and learning at home
  • read with your child every day!
