Welcome to Ms. Kopsiaftis's 7th and 8th Grade English Class at Baker School!
Course Description: The goal of 7th and 8th Grade English is to prepare you to be successful readers, writers, speakers and listeners. Readings appropriate to your ability and interest will be selected from across the genres of literature including short stories, novels, dramas, non-fiction and poetry. You will read a wide variety of authors of diverse backgrounds and time periods. You will be doing a lot of writing, some informal, and some in more polished form. Writing assignments will include personal reflection about the readings, introductory literary analyses, and creative work. There will be daily homework assignments, as well as long-term projects. We will focus on vocabulary and the mechanics of writing (spelling and grammar) as well.
