Grading: Homework · Homework will be given most every night in math and will vary in science depending on the unit. § Homework Scale: 5 Points = All work is completed in pencil and graded in red ink. All work is shown. 3 Points = Incomplete or work is not shown. Work is not in pencil or graded in red ink. 0 Points = Less than half of the work is completed. · Late homework will not be accepted! · Students who are absent have until the following Monday to make-up their homework/class work. Hand-in all make-up work to the INBOX to be graded. Missed assignments will be counted as a zero until they are turned in. Assignments can be checked at http://sites.google.com/site/msederslearninglink/ and in the Absent Work Log in the classroom. Large projects must be brought to school on the due date to receive full credit regardless of absence on that day. · If no homework is assigned, mark your Binder Reminder “No Homework”. · Every 3 missing homework assignments = detention. · Include the proper heading on all assignments in the upper right-hand corner: first & last name, date, period. If the heading is missing, a point will be deducted. Assessment · Math & Science § Quizzes will be given throughout each unit/chapter. Math quizzes are usually on Friday. § Tests will be given at the end of each unit/chapter. Science projects (worth the same as a test) will also be given at the end of a chapter throughout the year. Grading Scale (in percentage) A+ = 100 A = 99-92 A- = 91-90 B+ = 89-88 B = 87-82 B- = 81-80 C+ = 79-78 C = 77-72 C- = 71-70 D+ = 69-68 D = 67-62 D- = 61-60 F = 59 and below Daily Supplies (Supply checks will be done the second week of school and throughout the year!) plenty of sharpened pencils with erasers pencil sharpener red pens colored pencils 1 inch binder filled with lots of notebook paper at least 3 section dividers for binder (math, science, extra paper) at least 5 sheet protectors Everyday Math Template (Purchase in the front office for $8 or use yours from last year!) glue stick scissors silent reading book Period 2 WAVE: 1 spiral notebook and 1 journal Other Important Information · Central Tendencies (CT’s) will be assigned for all math and science quizzes and tests. Students will receive instruction and a sheet of directions on how to create a central tendency. Parents will need to sign all CT’s for students to earn full credit. · All final drafts must be completed in blue or black ink (preferably typed, but handwritten is OK). Final drafts should have no spelling or grammar errors, and be in correct format. · Students will have a Student Reference Book and Earth Science Book to be kept at home. Math and Science workbooks will be stored in the classroom. Students will be asked to tear out chapters/units from the workbooks and place them into their math/science binder as the year progresses. (Keep this portion at home!!)
