Homeroom Stuff

Okay folks, everyone should know by now that your Block A teacher is your homeroom teacher. This is where you pay your school fees during the first week and this is where you come to pick up your report cards in semester #1. Also, this is where you get to participate in the Surrey Food Drive as well. So here are some details to each of them.

School Fees: Bring your money (I perfer cheques) to me THE OFFICE on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. After Thursday you will have to line up and deal with it all with the office. We will not be handling school fees this year during homeroom, so go line up in front of the office. Keep the copy I the offices hand back to you as that is your prove of payment.

Advice to you: Buy a Yearbook. It is one of those things that you will regret that you didn't buy when you are older.

Agenda: What can I say? USE IT! I know everyone under the sun nowadays has a cell phone or an iphone, a blackberry or an ipad, but the truth is, there are not alot of kids who truly use the electronic agenda on these devices, so start off by learning how to use a pen and paper agenda and learn to keep your school life organized.

Advice to you: You think you can remember everything, but the truth is you only remember the things you want to remember. The agenda is there to help you remember all the things that you are SUPPOSE to remember. You don't have to love your agenda, you don't even have to like your agenda, you just have to USE your agenda.

Lockers: If you get a locker GREAT! If you don't get a locker from me, go see Mr. Muir in the office. This school is jammed packed and we don't have enough lockers, so take what I the office assigns you in class and if you don't have one or you have problems with yours, then go see Mr. Muir in the office - He is your man.

Advice to you: Don't give your locker combo to anyone! No even your best friend(s), actually especially NOT to your friends. You are responsible for that locker that I assigned to you, so you ALONE should have access to that locker.

School Photos: Don't forget picture day is SEPTEMBER 16th, 2011. Everyone has to have their picture taken. No picture = No student ID, which means you will have to pay more for everything. So make sure you wake up early that morning, wash your face, brush your teeth, comb your hair and dress up. If your parents want to order a photo package, please write the cheque out to the photography company (Artona) and not to Fraser Heights or to me.

Food Drive for the Surrey Food Bank: Most of us are pretty blessed. We have a roof over our heads and food on the table each day. Some of us even get to dine out almost anytime we feel like it. However, not everyone in Surrey are as fortunate as we are. Sometimes having food on the table can be a challenge. Fraser Heights like many other high schools and elementary schools in this this district realize that we have a part to play in helping people who have less than us, so each year all the schools have food drives for the needy. The official food bank collection, for Fraser Heights, is from Dec 5th to 16th ,2011. However, why wait until then? December is a busy month of the year so why not consider bringing some non perishable food items through out the year? I have a food collection box located in my room and you are more than welcome to bring items anytime you want. Of course, the more food items you bring, the greater the chance is as well for our class to win a pizza party, so when you do shopping, look for deals and bargains. Often you can find good nutritious non-perishable food items for less than $1.00 each. So give generously.

Last but not least, Report Cards. Yes, folks, you pick up your report cards here with me (providing the job action thing is all sorted out by then). Your block A teacher is in charge of handing out your report cards to you. We don't deliver them, so you have to COME pick it up yourself. Don't send a friend to do it, you come pick it up yourself, so that I can congratulate you on the good job you have done. Next semester however, you don't come to me, you go to your semester 2 block A teacher for your semester 2 report cards.
