I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Technology Education Department of Northern University High School. The technology department is an important part of the education system here at NU. Technology classes are somewhat different from what you may be familiar with in your normal classes, in that most of the learning accomplished in class involves self-paced hands on activities. To insure maximum learning in this type of environment requires every student to assume responsibility for his or her own actions. While in the technology classroom, each student will be involved in a combination of individual as well as some group activities. Self-control and cooperation are both critical elements needed to successfully fulfill class assignments. In this type of classroom setting, attendance is a critical part of each student's success. Students need to be in class with the required supplies/text ready to learn each day. Absence from class activities impacts very quickly on your grade. Thus you should make every effort to be in class and be an integral part in the learning process. If you have any questions about the classes, the classroom and grading policies, or anything else, feel free to contact me.
