Important Information for the week of March 26th - March 30th:
- Unit 6 Age of Exploration - We will be starting our 6th unit in World History, covering the Age of Exploration. Students should be reviewing their notes each night and working on their study guide in preparation for the daily quizzes. The following is the outline for this week:
- Monday 3/26 The Age of Exploration = Study Guide Questions 1-5
- Tuesday 3/27 The Conquistadors = Study Guide Questions 6-11
- Wednesday 3/28 The Conquistadors and Debate Preparation 12-13
- Thursday 3/29 The Conquistadors Debate 12-13
- Friday 3/30 Teacher Workday
- Unit 6 Conquistadors Debate - students will be having a debate for their Unit 6 SUPER Quiz grade. Students will have one day to prep their debate notes and the debate will be held on Thursday March 29th.
- Unit 6 Age of Exploration Review Sessions - On Wednesday April 11th, students will have the opportunity to attend a review session during A and B lunch in my classroom. The review session will help them prepare for the Unit 6 Exam and I will give all students in attendance 5 extra credit points.
- Unit 6 Age of Exploration Exam - on Thursday April 12th students will complete the Unit 6 Exam. The Exam will follow the same format as before - including 30 multiple choice questions, 10 vocabulary questions, 5 short answer questions, and an essay. Students will be given the essay organizer on Wednesday April 11th and will receive 3 extra credit points on the exam for completing their organizer.

- Unit 5 Renaissance - We will be starting our 5th unit in World History, covering the Renaissance. Students should be reviewing their notes each night and working on their study guide in preparation for the daily quizzes. The following is the outline for this week:

- Tuesday 3/13 The Renaissance = homework finish Northern Renaissance Cornell Notes
- Wednesday 3/14 The Protestant Reformation

- Important People Project - students will be completing a quarter project for World History. This quarter students have been assigned to create a character collage - consisting of 5 symbols (honors) and 3 symbols (standard) to represent the person's achievements and significance in World History. In addition, students will write a 1 page (honors) and 1/2 page (standard) summary of their assigned person's achievements and why they are an important figure in history. Students will have one day in class (On Friday March 9th) to research their person. The project due date has been extended to Monday March 26th. Please encourage your student to begin working on this ASAP so that they have a high quality project to turn in at the end of the quarter.

- Unit 4 Middle Ages - We will be starting our 4th unit in World History, covering the Middle ages. Students should be reviewing their notes each night and working on their study guide in preparation for the daily quizzes. The following is the outline for this week:
- Monday 3/5 Black Death = Study Guide Qs 18-23; work on Black Death Brochure
- Tuesday 3/6 Decline of Feudalism = Study Guide Qs 24-30; work on Black Death Brochure
- Wednesday 3/7 Review Day = Finish Study Guide and Complete essay organizer; finish Black Death Brochure
- Thursday 3/8 Unit 4 Exam = Finish Black Death Brochure due Friday March 9th

February 13th - February 17th:
I hope you are all doing well and enjoyed your weekend. We will continuing our 3rd Unit in World History covering Greece and Rome this week. One quick side note, I will be in France from Thursday February 16th through Monday February 20th, so I will be unable to answer any questions until I return on Monday Febraury 20th. I will be sure to respond as quickly as I can upon my return.

- Unit 3 Greece and Rome - We will be continuing our 3rd unit in World History, covering Greece and Rome. Students should be reviewing their notes each night and working on their study guide in preparation for the daily quizzes. The following is the outline for this week:
- Monday 2/13 Golden Age of Greece = Study Guide Questions 10-12
- Tuesday 2/14 Alexander the Great = Study Guide Questions 13-18
- Wednesday 2/15 The Roman Republic = Ancient Greece SUPER Quiz (see below for description) and study guide questions 19-26
- Thursday 2/16 The Roman Empire= Study Guide Questions 27-31
- Friday 2/17 The Roman Empire = Study Guide Questions 27-31 and complete the Roman Achievements Reading and Legacy of Rome Writing Assignment due February 23rd
- Ancient Greece SUPER Quiz - On Wednesday February 15th, students will have a 20 point quiz covering all of the information on Ancient Greece. The quiz will have 10 vocabulary questions and 5 short answer question relating to Ancient Greece. I will offer a review session to students during A lunch on Tuesday February 14th.
- Legacy of Rome on the Modern World Writing Assignment - students will have a short writing assignment to complete this weekend (I will distribute the assignment on Wednesday February 15th). They will use their classnotes and readings to write a 1-2 page paper about the legacy of Roman Achievements. This paper does not have to be typed. It is worth 25 points and will be due on Thursday February 23rd.

February 6th - 10th: Unit 2 World Religions - We will be starting our 2nd unit in World History, covering World Religions. Students should be researching and assembling their Children's Book, which will be due on Thursday February 9th. The following is the outline for this week:
- Monday 2/6 World Religions (library) = Finish Research
- Tuesday 2/7 World Religions (library) = Begin writing and illustrating your book (remember to write it so that a young child could understand your religion!!)
- Wednesday 2/8 World Religions (library) = Finish writing and illustrating your book
- Thursday 2/9 World Religions Presentations = Children's Book DUE!!
- Friday 2/10 Early Greece = Work on Study Guide Questions
- Unit 2 World Religions Children's Book - On Thursday February 9th, students will turn in their completed World Religions Children's Book. This will be an project grade worth 60 points.

- Textbooks: I do not generally check out textbooks because we use them primarily in class and I use many outside resources for readings. Students are allowed to check out one of my classroom textbooks if they would like to have it as a resource. In addition, some parents prefer that their son/daughter has a textbook at home. If so, please let me know and I will be sure to send one home with him/her.
- Open House: I will be at Athens Drive (in Room 2724) during Open House the evening of February 9th. I will be discussing the general course expectations and procedures at Open House and will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding the course. I hope to meet many of you that night!

Important Information for the week of January 30th - February 3rd:
- Unit 1 Rise of Civilization - We will be continuing our 1st Unit in World History, covering Rise of Civilizations. Students should be using their class notes to complete their study guide each night so that they are prepared for the 10 question daily quizzes. The following are the study guide and homework assignments for the week:
- Monday 1/30 Ancient Egypt = Homework Study Guide Questions 24-28 and River Civilizations Brochure Assignnment
- Tuesday 1/31 Indus River Civilization = Study Guide Questions 29-33 and River Civilization Brochure Assignment
- Wednesday 2/1 Ancient China = Study Guide Questions 34-38 and River Civilization Brochure Assignment
- Thursday 2/2 Review Day = Finish Study Guide, Essay Organizer, and River Civilization Brochure Assignment
- Friday 2/3 Unit 1 Exam = No homework over weekend
- River Civilizations Brochure Assignment - students have a 20 point brochure assignment due on Friday February 3rd. They are to create a brochure for one of the river valley civilizations. I have attached the assignment sheet below. Students may complete this by hand or on the computer.
- Unit 1 Rise of Civilizations Exam - On Friday February 3rd, students will take their first Unit Exam covering Prehistory through the River Civilizations. The exam will be differentiated for standard and honors students. Honors students will be expected to answer more difficult questions and will be required to write a full detailed essay. The exam will cover all of the the information presented in their class notes ("Introduction to History" Notes through "Ancient China" Notes). Please be sure your son/daughter is studying each night by reviewing their class notes and completing the study guide questions for their exam on Friday. In addition, students will complete an essay organizer in class on Thursday to help them prepare for their essay. Students will not be able to use this organizer on the exam, but will receive 3 extra credit points for turning in the completed organizer the day of the exam. If students need any additional help, I will be available both Tuesday and Wednesday during lunch for tutorials.
