Welcome back to our Track and Field week! How exciting, all the hard work will be seen on Wednesday. This week both grades will be having a math test on Friday and next week will start our last unit on Transformations! The spelling that was assigned today will be due next week Thursday because we have two short weeks! There are still a few that need to complete their memory work and this will be tested for on Friday. The testing will not end until each child has mastered all six verses. A few students have book reports due May 26. Have a great week!

Our classroom is a busy place this week. Today the classes “Google Earth” Stories were due and I am looking forward to reading each one. Also today the Grade 8’s start a new unit in math on Graphing Coordinates.  Tomorrow the entire class has a history test on the rebellions in Lower and Upper Canada in 1837. I will be checking tomorrow on each student’s progress on reading though Proverbs. The students should be done up to Proverbs 15 by tonight so that I can check it tomorrow.  On Wednesday the grade 8 class will be participating in the Gauss math competition. While this is not graded it will be a good indicator of how our students perform compared to others their age.  This week we once again will have spelling. A few of the students still have memory work to complete because they have yet to have all six memorized.  Medeba is only 5 weeks away!

Welcome back to our first normal week in long time! The students are continuing to prepare with Mrs. Schroor for field day and are encouraged to keep building up their endurance at home. In Literature we are currently creating commercials to go along without Media unit. These will need to be completely filmed by Friday of this week so that the editing process can be underway by next week at the latest. This week marks the week that all of the memory work from the entire year needs to be memorized by Friday. To lighten the load there will be no spelling work this week.  Also on Friday the creative writing assignment about Google Earth is due as well.  Next week the Grade 8’s will be competing in the Gauss Math competition on Wednesday. This will be a great opportunity to practice writing exams and to see how our math skills line up with others.  Next Tuesday there will also be a History test on Canadian History.  The study sheet has already been posted to the class website! Have a great week!

Welcome back to our short week.  We had so much fun at Oodles of Noodles and have managed to raise quite a bit of money for our trip to Medeba. Final numbers will come out later this week.  Our next exciting event will be the 30 Hour Famine. Ensure that you leave April 16-17 free for this exciting event! We have a couple things coming up this week that will require some homework. We are currently working on our final assignment for The Hobbit. This includes an essay as well as a creative project. Due to the fact that we have two short weeks in a row we will be doing one spelling list due April 9. Check the website for the list words. Also coming up we have Battle of the Books, if you are involved keep reading and make up some quiz questions.  For memory work this week the students will be doing the verse from Isaiah and Revelations. Have a great week.
