Principles of Mathematics 12

Text:  Mathematics 12:  Addison-Wesley Western Canadian Edition # 

 

Materials REQUIRED: 

Pencils and eraser

Ruler

Notebook and paper

Graphing Calculator

 

Your mark will be determined as follows:

 

Term 1                                      35%

Term 2                                     35%

Final Exam                                30%

 

Note:  With an overall course percent of 80% or greater you will receive a recommendation stating that you do not have to write the school final.  In this case each term will be equally weighted at 50%.

 

Students may choose to write the optional Provincial Exam, which is worth 40% of their mark.  The school mark will then count 60%

 

For each term the break down will be as follows:

 

Classwork                                 70%

Term Exam                                30%

 

The term 1 exam will cover the first part of the course and the term 2 exam will cover only the second part of the course.

 

Expectations:

Show up, on time:

          -Poor attendance will adversely affect your mark.

-You are responsible for all work missed while absent.  Check your unit plan and stay caught up.

-Quizzes will be given without notice.  Missed quizzes will be scored as zero.

-Tests will be scheduled in advance.  Missed tests will be made up as soon as possible, provided a note from home excuses the absence.  Be prepared to write the test on the day you return to class.

Be prepared:

-Have all necessary materials.  You will not be permitted to leave the room for forgotten items

          -Complete all homework on the day it is assigned.

          -Complete all assignments by the deadline.

No electronics equipment, including cell phones, pagers, personal music players, etc.

 

 

Extra help:  You will need it!!  You will find me in room 202 several times each week.  Check the blackboard for times, as they change each semester.
