Science Fair Guidelines

Science Fair Project Guide Lines

ü  The topic for your science fair project is your choice; however you must choose a project that relates to life science.

ü  Students are to work independently on their projects.

ü  All projects must be approved by the teacher before starting.

ü  You will expected to follow the scientific method:

o   Make an observation

o   State the problem

o   Research the topic

o   Develop a hypothesis

o   Determine a procedure to test your hypothesis

o   Test your hypothesis

o   Collect and record data

o   Analyze data

o   Draw conclusions

ü  A visual display is required (i.e. display board). Students may include a model of their experiment with their display. No live specimens are allowed and all liquids must be in sealed containers. Given the nature of some experiments to be messy or to not be in presentable condition at the time of the fair, I strongly suggest that you take pictures of your experiment to display on your board.

ü  This project will be graded on a timeline basis. Each component will be due at an assigned time and treated as all other major assignments. The science fair project is 20% of your grade for 1st ,2nd, and 3rd quarter.
