Word of the Week: culprit
(n. a guilty person)
Every week students learn a new word for the week. How can you incorporate this into the home? Try to see how many times you can use it together during the week. Look for pictures of the word of the week. Bring them in and share with the class!
Writing as delicious as a hamburger!!
As a class we have discussed how writing can be as delicious as a hamburger that has many condiments. The more the condiments, the better it is. That is how writing is.....the more detail writers put into their stories, the better readers can visualize what the author is trying to convey. Our class has been learning how to organize our details with a topic sentence (bun), details to support (tomato, lettuce, and meat) and concluding sentence (bottom bun). Using this concept, students can begin by learning to organize their thoughts, and then later adding ideas, word choice etc.
Meet Your Teacher!
I have been married for 9 years to Mr. Mike. We have two wonderful children, Kyle and Ashley. We enjoy family activities together and having fun. I enjoy scrapbooking, cardmaking, mountain biking, and working out.
My passion is teaching and have been doing so for 7 years, during which, I stayed at home for 4 years when Kyle was born. I am so excited for this year and look forward to a year filled with learning, friends and fun!
