Mrs.Tuckers Basic Educational Philosophy

I am committed to providing a comprehensive educational program that addresses the total person.  One which…

·        Promotes high standards, insuring the autonomy of our students’ futures,

·        Sustains an environment that fosters inquiry and exploration,

·        Develops personal and social responsibility,

·        Recognizes the worth of the individual,

·        Cultivates a tolerance of the individual,

·        Cultivates a tolerance of cultural diversity,

·        Enhances self-esteem,

·        Assures cooperation,

·        Provides a safe and orderly learning environment

·        Accentuates the positive

In order to help meet the above goals:

The Teacher will:

·        Try to engage and support all students in their learning.

·        Organize and make material comprehensible for students.

·        Assess the students for learning.

·        Create and maintain an effective learning environment.

·        Plan and design instruction that can be delivered in a variety of ways.

·        Continue to develop as a professional educator.

The Students will be encouraged to:

·        Think critically.

·        Apply the skills and knowledge inside and outside of this class.

·        Communicate effectively, work individually and collaboratively.

·        Develop as an individual, both socially and educationally.

The Parents are invited to:

·        Be pro-active rather than re-active in their child's education.

·        Talk with your child about this class.

·        Check the web site for updated information.

·        If you have questions or concerns, use every means possible to communicate with with the teacher- Phone, E-mail, Conference ect. Please keep in mind that unless it is an emergency, please be respectful of classroom time.

·        Offer any expertise you have in the educational area of life science or biology.

·        Advocate for your child and the knowledge that they learn. Encourage their independence and interdependence and the responsibility that goes along with them.
