homework 10/26-10/30

We will begin Chapter 3 this week on Cell Structure and Function.
 
Monday 10/26- preview chapter 3 and begin vocabulary for this chapter. Please
                       note, Students will be completely responsible for doing their
                       vocabulary on their own.The choice
                       is up to them on how they want to cover it. I will not be checking off
                       whether or not they do it. If they neglect this it will show on their
                       test. So please be mindful for this responsibility.
Tuesday 10/27-          Workbook 3-1: all of it.
Wednesday 10/28-      Workbook 3-2: all of it. Take a look at the cell projects and
                                 begin to think about what you might want to do.
Thursday 10/29-          Make sure you continue to review the vocabulary, parts
                                 of the cell (structure and functions). Onion/ cheek lab will
                                 be next week due to microscope scheduling conflict.
                                                        
Note I will offer a make up lab Tuesday after school 11/3
 
Heads up:
Cell project Due Date will be: Thursday 11/12. Chapter 3 test Friday 11/13.
 
Cell project basics: 1. See attached Rubric below.  
                             2. Creat a model of either a plant cell or animal cell.
                             3. Be creative in how choose to make a model.
                             4. See, below for ideas from previous years.
                             5. If you choose to bake, Please take a picture of your model
                                and bring only the picture of your product to school along    
                                with the key that explains which parts of the cell are  
                                represented by what ever you used.
                               PLEASE  DO NOT BRING IT(anything edible/ or perishable)
                               TO SCHOOL. We can not have food in the LAB room.
                                Share it with your family and friends at home.
                             
 
 
If Absent: In class work this week:
Monday- we wrapped up ch 2 and discussed the lab outcomes.
Tuesday- Read 3-1 and do section assessment questions.
Wednesday- Read 3-2 and do section assessment questions. Explain the
                    cell project, and pass out the  rubric for it. See attachment below.
Thursday- Will continue with 3-2 Lecture and Bill Nye video
Plant vs Animal cell. Some microscope hands on work.(defer to next week due to microscope use/scheduling )
Friday-    Teacher Inservice Day/ Student Free Day.
 
 

Cell project ideas

 
 Additional Ideas:
For those who like using their cameras and video, you can story board the cell structures and functions with a voice narration, create a song and video it. For those who have Macs at home SKITCH is fun and very easy to use.
