On October 31, 1982, Joan and David Strang were blessed with their 3rd and final child, a boy named James David. That's me! I grew up on my family farm outside of Watertwon, SD and attended high school in the tiny little village of Waverly. I graduated in 2001 and moved to Aberdeen, SD and attended NSU.
I started out at NSU in the field of International Business and playing college football. My football playing career and International Business major ended in 2003 along with some brain (5 concussions) and knee matter (2 MCLs and a miniscus). I then joined the school of education at NSU and started coaching football and jr. high basketball at Northwestern High School.
In December 2005, I graduated with a BA in Social Science Secondary Ed along with a couple of minors. In January, I decided to help out a buddy of mine and became employed as a teacher @ Northeastern Mental Health Center. I worked as a Social Science Teacher along with various other interesting duties that came with the job. I became school supervisor only to have funding rearranged and the alternative school closed down.
After losing the position at Northeastern Mental Health, in the spring of '08, I did some fishing and took some classes back at NSU. I finished in the spring of '09 with a k-12 Sped endorsement along with some other credits.
After finishing up school this time around I interviewed across the land and found a quaint little town in Southeastern SD called Canistota. Here at Canistota I teach HS SPED along with being an assistant football and girls basketball coach. |
