Meet Mrs. Slader

Due to the Walkathon on Friday, there will be no cafeteria services on Friday, May25th.  A yellow order form was sent home at the beginning of this month regarding 8th grade Hot Dog Sale fundraiser.  Cost is $3.50 for a hot dog, drink and a package of chips.  Please send that form in with the money if you'd like your child to have that or send in lunch from home that day.
I invite you to look at news and pictures from all our activities.  Go to the menu bar on the left an click on
First  Grade Monthly Magazine.

Hello everyone and welcome to the fantastic world of first grade!
This website will give you a peek into what goes on our first grade classroom!

I hope you enjoy your visit and get a feel for what a wonderful place first grade can be.

Please browse throughout the site and visit often!

My name is Maria Slader and I have been at St.Philips for 14 years now and this is my fourth year teaching first grade.  I am a product of St. Philip School, as are my two chidren, so you can see I believe in a Catholic education.  I am a graduate of Montclair State University and I am currently studying for my Master's Degree in Special Education.

My mission for the children is to provide a fun, safe, learning environment for all learners.  I will do my best to reach every child at their developmental level and provide meaningful, multisensory activities, through differentiated instruction, and lessons to enrich learning.  From September through June, these are my children and I will love them and accept them for who they are just as I do my own.  I believe teachers and parents are a team in children's growth and I look forward to working WITH you to have them reach all their goals and get them prepared for the next level in their academic growth.  Please know that you can always come to me with any issues or concerns that you may have so we can "put our heads together" and bring out the best in your child. You can contact me at mslader@gmail.com or call the school and leave a message.  Please allow me 24 hours to reply to your email.

I love teaching and in 2006, I was given the dubious honor as "Teacher of The Year" by the Knights of Columbus.

This website was designed to keep you, the parents, up to date and better informed with what's happening in the classroom.
