STUDENT PORTAL: Parents and Guardians: Students are now (as of 10/5/09) able to set up a "Student Portal" so they can have access via the Internet to their current grades in all their classes, plus other info such as unit status toward graduation, transcripts, overall grades for the year...11th and 12th grade students are offered codes this week (some of mine declined) and instructions for setting up the portal, but 9th and 10th graders must have a waiver form signed first by you. Then we can give them the codes and instructions. Questions? Email me, and I'll try to help. (I'm new at it too!) Mrs. Sims
Materials students need to bring to class every day:
1) Dividers in a 3-ring binder labeled Math Notes, Math Assignments, and Math Quizzes. (It doesn't need to be a separate binder.)
2) a pencil with an eraser for doing the work (please, no pen used for work)
3) a supply of lined paper.
Our textbook (California Algebra 1, published by Prentice-Hall), may be left at home. About half the assignments are from the book (the rest are worksheets), but we have a classroom set of books that students may use when here. It makes sense to leave them home, so the chance of them being lost or stolen is greatly reduced.
I suggest you take a look at page CA27 of the textbook. It gives directions on how to use the online resources they have available. They have extra help, called Homework Video Tutor, for every lesson.
