Welcome to the Maple Ridge Secondary School Cherry Blossom Festival web page!  We will be posting information about who,what, where, when, and how things will be happening for this major event proposed to occur during the second week of April. We will be posting, as mentioned in other publications, a page for you to be part of this collaborative project.  We need your help to tell us where the blossoms are - this will enable us to create a brochure leading you through a Maple Ridge scenic tour of  Cherry Blossom trees in our community.

A Little History

     The story of the Cherry Blossom Festival starts in Japan. There, every spring, when the cherry blossoms (桜) bloom, they hold the festival. The flower festival (花祭り) has such things as: a picnic under a cherry blossom tree, a creation of a composition of a short haiku (poem) under a cherry blossom tree,  a tea ceremony under a cherry blossom tree, or a cherry blossom viewing.
