I teach health and sports medicine and am the Certified Athletic Trainer. I am fortunate enough to teach topics I truly love. It is my pleasure to share my knowledge with students to prepare them to make healthy decisions and live an active life. I recieved my bachelor's degree from Iowa State University in physical education, with minors in health and athletic training in 1997. In 1999 I recieved my Master's degree in Sports Health Care from Arizona School of Health Sciences. My professional background as a Certified Athletic Trainer includes high school, junior college and professional sports. I began teaching full time in 2006 when I joined the Mountain Ridge family. Prior, I taught 1 class for 6 years as I served as the head athletic trainer at a high school in Phoenix for 7 years. My duties as the certified athletic trainer include assisting the athletes in preventing, and caring for injuries they receive during their sports and returning them safely to competition. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. We love to travel to white sandy beaches and Iowa in the winter. The remainder of my free time is spent running and participating in races ranging from 10ks to half marathons. I also like to read suspense books. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. |
